Aurora Again: Mysterious Booms

Over the weekend in the United Kingdom, the widespread reports of strange aerial bangings and what was speculated to be sounds produced by supersonic or hypersonic aircraft has called forth an often mentioned name.
According to the Daily Mail, conspiracy theorists are attributing,

The booms to a spy plane rumored to be under development by the US military, under the codename Aurora....People described it as loud enough to shake their homes and rattle windows. This has led conspiracy theorists to claim the power source could be behind a hypersonic US spy plane, dubbed Aurora. Aurora is rumored to be an ultra top secret aircraft that has been in development since 1989.

Enthusiasts claim that such a supersonic or hypersonic plans could be what caused the strange noises at the weekend. In particular, an expert said the sound is similar to that created by pulse detonation engines. An artist's illustration of what the Aurora plane could look like is pictured.

Cryptologic or Coincidence? Coleman Name Game

I wrote the following words long ago, and they were first published in 1983. They ring true today, in terms of the synchromystic milieu in which we find ourselves.

Cryptologic or coincidence?

Jim Brandon should be credited with calling attention to the name Watts/Watkins/Watson, and its entanglement with inexplicable things. Some other names involved in mysterious events pinpointed by Brandon are Bell, Mason, Parsons, Pike, Vernon and Warren. The influence of such names as Mason, Pike, Warren, and Lafayette, for example, issues, in some cryptopolitical. and occult way, from their ties to the Masonic tradition. Jim Brandon's The Rebirth of Pan discusses this thesis in detail. Clearly, however, a massive name game is being played out across Mysterious America, and the proof of such a hypothesis goes beyond mere chance.

In Wild Talents, Charles Fort thought about some of these same things when he wrote: "My liveliest interest is not so much in things, as in relations of things. I have spent much time thinking about the alleged pseudorelations that are called coincidences. What if some of them should not be coincidences?"

Noting that the vanishing act of Ambrose Bierce was followed by the vanishing of Ambrose Small some six years later, Fort continued: "But what could the disappearance of one Ambrose, in Texas, have to do with the disappearance of another Ambrose, in Canada? There was in these questions an appearance of childishness that attracted my respectful attention."

Charles Fort, thus, engaged in the name game, and attempted to understand the quick explanation given for it, coincidence. "In the explanation of coincidence, " Fort emphasized in Wild Talents, "there is much of laziness, and helplessness, and response to an instinctive fear that a scientific dogma will be endangered. It is a tag, or a label: but of course every tag, or label, fits well enough at times."

So, in the midst of all the Fayettevilles, Wetzels, Decaturs and Devils, someone must feel comfortable in knowing they believe they are merely coincidences.

But ponder Fort: "There is a view by which it can be shown, or more or less demonstrated, that there never has been a coincidence. That is, in anything like a final sense. By a coincidence is meant a false appearance, or suggestion, of relations among circumstances. But anybody who accepts that there is an underlying oneness of all things, accepts that there are no utter absences of relations among circumstances."

And what of any one of our own name games? To look personally, closer at your name or the place you live, is instructive. For me, one who has examined deeply the pattern in names and things, I was struck by some insights pointed out to me, personally, by Jim Brandon concerning “Coleman.” Alfred Watkins...wrote in his The Old Straight Track, the “Coleman, who gave his name to all kinds of points and places on the tracks, was a head-man in making them, and probably worked from the Colehills, using beacon fires for making out the ley.”

In a similar vein, I. Shah's The Sufis demonstrates the origin of my name via Coalman, the charcoal burners, the Perceivers, the Carbonari, and their links with the occult.

Perhaps, then, the name game has played a special trick on me. I seem predisposed to try to scrutinize names of people and places for the purpose of perceiving the possible hidden meanings and patterns behind them. The lay of the land, and the sighters of the strange, then truly, hold many secrets as we hobnob about America. ~ from Mysterious America (Faber and Faber, 1983; Faber and Faber, 1989; Simon and Schuster, 2007).

Ebola Scare At Logan on Ebola Discovery Anniversary

On Monday, October 13, 2015, at about 2:45 p.m, a Hazmat team boarded Emirates Flight 237 to tend to five sick passengers, all from Dubai. At least one individual was placed in a "protective suit" and removed from the plane.

The ill people had not traveled to West Africa, but recently to Mecca, before coming to the USA. The incident occurred at Boston's Logan Airport. Everyone on the East Coast usually just refers to the airport as "Logan."

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said there was no Ebola scare at Boston's Logan Airport on Monday after concerns were raised when five passengers with flu-like symptoms were removed from a flight that landed there.

"There was not an Ebola scare at Boston's Logan Airport," Shelly Diaz, a CDC spokeswoman, said.

Emergency crews in protective gear removed the passengers from Emirates flight 237 after it had arrived from Dubai on Monday.

When is an Ebola scare not an Ebola scare? Perhaps we just saw one happen at Logan?

A Special Day/A Special Name: October 13th

Why is this day unlike any other day?

As Nick DeLuca at BostInno pointed out, "According to an eerie TIME magazine article, the Ebola virus was first observed by the human eye on this day 38-years ago."

TIME began their article, "On Oct. 13, 1976, exactly 38 years ago Monday, Frederick A. Murphy, a CDC virologist and expert in photographing viruses peered into a microscope and saw what he describes today as a “dark beauty — [a] horror.”

Who?

Wikipedia says, "Reports conflict about who initially coined the name: either Karl Johnson of the American CDC team or Belgian researchers."

Richard Preston wrote in The Hot Zone (NY: Anchor Books/Random House, 1995), wrote on page 117, "Karl Johnson named it Ebola."

Peter Piot, at the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp in 1976.

Michael Hoffman, "a longtime student of Twilight Language," recently wrote about the naming of the "Ebola virus":

The following is taken from an October 4 (2014) interview with the Flemish virologist Prof. Peter Piot, said to be the "discoverer," in 1976, of the "Ebola" virus. He is currently the director of the London School of Tropical Medicine.
In an interview with England’s Observer newspaper, Piot states that victims of the pathogen were first infected in "Yambuku and the area around it," in what had been the old Belgian Congo. (In 1976 it was called Zaire; today it is again named Congo).
He gives the following account of how the virus was named:
Observer newspaper: You were also the one who gave the virus its name. Why Ebola?
Peter Piot: "On that day our team sat together late into the night – we had also had a couple of drinks – discussing the question. We definitely didn't want to name the new pathogen 'Yambuku virus,' because that would have stigmatized the place forever. There was a map hanging on the wall and our American team leader suggested looking for the nearest river and giving the virus its name. It was the Ebola river. So by around three or four in the morning we had found a name. But the map was small and inexact. We only learned later that the nearest river was actually a different one. But Ebola is a nice name, isn't it?"
Piot and an anonymous "American team leader" supposedly named the virus after "the nearest river," Ebola, which, as it turns out, was not the nearest river. This river-naming explanation is repeated by the Establishment media without question.

....Piot's enigmatic statement that "Ebola is a nice name" is bizarre; almost a hint pointing to a clue. [For more on what this may be about, please read here.]

The French surname Piot is derived from a personal or physical characteristic of the initial bearer, from "pion" indicating "a pedestrian, that is, one who walks on foot."

The Hot Name For 2014

On July 16, 2014, I wrote "Hot Name Game of 2014: Logan." A mass killing, which occurred on July 14th, had the "coincidental" detail that one of the victims was a researcher of mass shootings. The place name where this event happened caught my synchromystic attention, for it was Logan, Utah. The multiple murders and suicide focussed my attention on the name Logan.

The incidents of the name "Logan" being spotted in violence situations this year have been intriguing.

On Friday, January 17, 2014, two students were wounded at 3:20 pm, during a shooting inside the Delaware Valley Charter High School, Logan, Pennsylvania. An 18-year-old female student was shot in the arm. The same bullet then entered a 17-year-old Tyler Lewis's shoulder.

On Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Princeton, Illinois, five-year-old Logan Jacobs died when he was left in a hot (84°) car.

On July 9, 2014, Ronald Haskell shot and killed six members of the Morman family of Stays in Spring, Texas. Haskell had previously lived and had domestic violence situations occur between himself and his then-wife (Melannie Kaye Lyon) in Logan, Utah (a Mormon community). Haskell lived in Logan, Utah, from July 2006 to November 2013, mostly with his then-wife.

In Chicago, Illinois, a driver struck a pedestrian walking in the Logan Square neighborhood, on July 16, 2014. 

On September 25, 2014, at the Vaughan Foods processing plant in Moore, about 10 miles south of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 30-year-old Alton Alexander Nolen beheaded Colleen Hufford, 54. Nolen's criminal record notes he had two felonies related to selling pot in Logan County, Oklahoma.

Looking Into Logan

In Gaelic the meaning of the name Logan is "from the hollow." In Scottish, the meaning is sometimes translated as "Finnian's servant."

I pinpointed Logan as a "power name" in my 1983 (updated in 2007) book, Mysterious America: The Ultimate Guide to the Nation's Weirdest Wonders, Strangest Spots, and Creepiest Creatures:

"Logan" is another one of those words. Rocking logan stones are a part of ancient megalithic research. My brother [Jerry Dale] and I interviewed the Lowe family about the big birds' attempted abduction of Marlon from their front yard, in Logan County, Illinois. Another Logan County, this one in Colorado, has had an unusually high number of cattle mutilations and one 1975 mystery helicopter report. Logan County, Colorado, also has had an 1897 airship account, as has Logan, Ohio. Loganville, Wisconsin, sits but a stone's throw from the woods around Baraboo, said to be haunted by ghost elephants. A lake monster supposedly made an 1835 appearance in Logansport, Indiana. Logan Peak, near Huntsville, Alabama, the location of UFO, Bigfoot and mystery explosion reports, is a short distance north of Hobbs [="devil's"] Island. Logan, Kansas, saw some unexplained bird deaths in 1978. Logan, Utah was frequented by UFOs during the late 1940s and early 1950s. A May 1, 1954, flash of light was followed by an explosion and huge crater in Logan, Utah. In the 1980s, women were disappearing from Boston's Logan Airport and thus ending this list unended. 

No surprises that Ebola and Logan have overlapped in 2014 on this special anniversary date. What's next?

Decatur Again In Weird News

Friday, September 19, 2014. Decatur, Georgia. Friday afternoon around 2:00, Decatur (Georgia) Police got several phone calls that a man acting in a "bizarre" matter, running into traffic near B&B Trailer Park. One caller reported the man, later identified as Jose Dorsett, said "someone" was trying to kill him. He reportedly ran into traffic, and several cars had to swerve to avoid him. He was said to be foaming at the mouth. Dorsett charged the officer who responded to the scene, and the officer used his K-9 to detain him. The K-9 bit Dorsett in his thigh, and the officer was able to get him down. Another officer arrived to help handcuff Dorsett. He was taken to the Decatur Morgan Parkway Campus Emergency Room. According to hospital staff, Dorsett was under the influence of cocaine and was likely experiencing a drug overdose. On Saturday, Dorsett was declared brain dead. Source.

Sunday, September 21, 2014. Decatur, Indiana. Stephen Cox, 30, of Decatur, Indiana, died Sunday at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, according to the Hamilton County Coroner. The crash in which he sustained his injuries occurred September 14 at Kentucky Speedway in Sparta, Ohio. the crash occurred during an event called the Rusty Wallace Racing Experience. During the event, which is offered at the speedway on most weekends, people can pay to ride in or drive race cars. Source.

Monday, September 22, 2014. Decaturville, Decatur County, Tennessee. The latest suspect, John “Dylan” Adams, 26-year old younger brother of earlier suspect Zachary, in the Holly Bobo case was arraigned in Decatur County Court. Holly Bobo, a 20-year-old nursing student, was abducted from her home outside Parsons, Tennessee, about 100 miles west of Nashville, on the morning of April 13, 2011. Her remains were found by two farmers in a rural area outside Holladay, Tennessee, in Decatur County on September 7, 2014. The timeline of the events can be found here and here.

Monday, September 22, 2014. Decatur, Alabama. A toddler found submerged in a tank of baptismal water in an Alabama church died of accidental drowning. Brayden King, who was two months shy of his second birthday, was under the supervision of a sister in her early teens when he fell into the tank on Friday at the Pentecostal House of Prayer in Decatur, about 75 miles north of Birmingham. The toddler was found in 33 inches of water and declared dead after unsuccessful attempts to resuscitate him. Source.

Decatur again. Yes. We are aware that Decatur interacts with bizarre news. Jim Brandon pointed out "Decatur" as a "power name" in his The Rebirth of Pan in 1983, and I wrote about it as part of the "Name Game" in Mysterious America, also first in 1983.

Decatur, Illinois's iconic Transfer Station use to be located in Lincoln Square, named after the assassinated Illinois president, Abraham Lincoln.

My old hometown’s name, Decatur, (of Decatur, Illinois) has a Fortean mystique and synchromysticism about it that has created all kinds of synchromojo.

Several locations are named "Decatur" across the United States of America. Such sites are named after the War of 1812′s Navy hero, Stephen Decatur, who also fought against the Barbary pirates. Stephen Decatur at one time conducted tests in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey in 1804, and allegedly fired on the Jersey Devil. The records say that Stephen Decatur identified the winged creature as a “devil” – pale in color, with leathery bat-like wings. Decatur perforated one of the thing’s wings with a fired cannonball, but it seemed unfazed, which disturbed everybody who was there at the time. It flew off.

The word decatur (French in origin) is loosely translated as “dweller at the sign of the cat.”

Stephen Decatur, a Masonic figure of some noteworthiness, is responsible, as well, for the Stephen Decatur House in Washington D.C., which is located on Lafayette Square.

The USS Bainbridge, which organized the 2009 US Navy rescue of an American ship captain (Captain Richard Phillips) from Somali pirates, was named for Commodore William Bainbridge, who was held prisoner by North African Barbary pirates from 1803 to 1806.

Commodore Bainbridge commanded several famous naval ships, including the USS Constitution and saw service in the Barbary Wars and the War of 1812. Bainbridge was also in command of the USS Philadelphia when it grounded off the shores of Tripoli in North Africa, resulting in his capture and imprisonment for many months. In the latter part of his career he became the U.S. Naval Commissioner.

Lieutenant Stephen Decatur commanding the USS Intrepid executed a night raid into Tripoli harbor on February 16, 1804 to destroy the Philadelphia. Admiral Horatio Nelson is said to have called this "the most bold and daring act of the Age."

It is worthy of pointing out that James Shelby Downard's research in King Kill 33 notes that Bain relates to Bane (fatal cause of mischief), and in Scottish legend, the Bain Fairy is a death fairy who is the keeper of the Bain Bridge. King Kill 33 noted the American battleship Bainbridge, which was dedicated by Lyndon Baines Johnson, is a harbinger of death, according to Downard.

On March 22, 1820, Commodore Bainbridge served as the second for Commodore Stephen Decatur (a Brother Mason) in the duel with fellow Navy officer James Barron that cost Decatur his life at the age of 41. His wife Susan called the seconds Decatur's assassins. The Decatur name game is a book unto itself.

The Bell Tolls White House Invasions and Mass Murders

Synchronicity is strange. It plays games with your mind, leading you down one road, and dropping you off on another path that leads you right back to the beginning.

Let's take one down the synchromystic journey that appears to be going back and forth in time, starting with a horrible incident that occurred in a microscopic town in the South of the USA.

On Thursday, September 18, 2014, it was Bell, Florida, where a "spirit" - Donald Charles Spirit, 51, - killed his adult daughter (Sarah, 28) and six grandkids, before killing himself. The children who died were identified as Kylie Kuhlmann, 9, Kaleb Kuhlmann, 11, Johnathon Kuhlmann, 8, Destiny Stewart, 5, Alanna Stewart, born June 28 of this year, and Brandon Stewart, 4. The fathers (James Lawson Stewart and Edward Kuhlman) of both sets of children were imprisoned at the time of the shootings.

If that wasn't bad enough, the history here was mysterious and murderous:

Media reports indicate that Spirit accidentally shot and killed an 8-year-old son, Kyle, during a hunting trip to Three Lakes Wildlife Management Area near Kenansville, Fla., on Nov. 14, 2001. During a walk through the woods, Spirit pointed out some rust on the muzzle of a gun and it fired, hitting Kyle in the head, officials said. He was sentenced to three years in prison for illegal possession of a firearm. Spirit pleaded guilty in exchange for a minimum sentence just as his trial was about to begin. After that incident, the family moved from Tampa to Bell, according to published reports. Source.

The Bell killings occurred on the same day, a Taco Bell in Antioch (named after the ancient warring Greek city founded by one of Alexander the Great's generals), California, announced it would be closing its inside area from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. This was an attempt to deter high school students using their place as a fight club. After school brawling had routinely broken out in that Taco Bell. Fights had occurred in the previous days.

Also on Thursday, Kenneth Osako, 46, allegedly used a bar-bell at a gym in South San Francisco to beat Diego Galindo, 43, to death. Source.

Meanwhile, a few hours before, late on Wednesday night, September 17, 2014, a high speed chase in Bell Township, Pennsylvania, ended when multiple law enforcement departments' pursuits came to an abrupt stop after police shot driver Joshua Jesse of Monroeville, after he allegedly fired on officers. Source.

Also on September 17, the Denver Chapter of National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution rang their Colorado Liberty Bell replica for the first time in 40 years, on Constitution Day. Constitution Day commemorates the formation and signing of the U.S. Constitution by thirty-nine men on September 17, 1787, recognizing all who are born in the U.S. or by naturalization have become citizens.

Something seemed to be in the air regarding "Bell," needless to say.

Soon my attention was drawn to the White House. Here too, a Bell was in the twilight there.

Appearing online, this image has now been turned into

a political statement of undetermined meaning.

You will recall that on September 11th, a man wearing a Pokémon shirt & cap and carrying a Pikachu doll, climbed the fence, got onto the White House lawn, and created quite a scare. Turns out the guy was named Jeffrey Grossman, 26, from Rensselaer, New York, who has mental disabilities. He wanted to ask President Obama about healthcare, allegedly. Grossman has a Bachelor of Science degree in business from College of Saint Rose in Albany.

Grossman (shown) was a graduate of Chatham High School in Chatman High School. On September 19, the school put out an alert "about children in Colonie and Berkshire County being approached by a man in a gray car with New York plates, which police are investigating as possible attempted abductions. While there have been no reported incidents in our immediate area, today we took the opportunity to remind all our students to be vigilant about their safety when out and about."

Grossman's White House intrusion was disturbing, but what happened next was even more concerning, considering the White House is suppose to be the best guarded location in the Free World. 

On Friday evening, September 19, 2014, Omar J. Gonzalez, 42, who allegedly is from Bell County, Texas, jumped the White House's North Fence, darted across the lawn and through the unlocked North Portico doors before officers finally tackled him. It was announced on Saturday that he was carrying a knife. The President and his family had just left for Camp David, and the White House was evacuated. When Gonzalez was apprehended he told Secret Service agents he was "concerned that the atmosphere was collapsing" and needed to contact the president "so he could get word out to the people." Certainly for Gonzalez, the bell was tolling for him.

Update 22 September 2014: White House intruder had 800 rounds of ammunition in his car.

Newer Update:

On September 22, 20014, USA Today made this observation:

Samantha Bell, Gonzalez's ex-wife, said she and Gonzalez married in 2006 and lived together in Copperas Cove, near Fort Hood, until she split up with him in 2010 because of his worsening mental condition. After his second tour in Iraq, Gonzalez began carrying a .45 on his hip at all times and kept three or four rifles and shotguns behind the doors in their home, said Bell, who remarried and now lives in southern Indiana.

Yes, that's correct. His ex-wife is named Bell.

Gonzalez is listed as living in Copperas Cove, Texas, which partially overlaps into Bell County. Records indicate Gonzalez was born and married in Bell County. Waco, Texas, is nearby, and Fort Hood is too. Fort Hood is the scene of murder-suicides and mass shootings. The month has been filled with child murders and homicidal/suicidal acts.

The federal government's action at Waco allegedly triggered the Oklahoma City bombing, which caused the new security measures at the White House. This is all getting to be circular.

On Saturday, September 20th, there was the third recent incident at the White House. The Associated Press shared the slimmest of details:

Less than 24 hours after Gonzalez's arrest, a second man was apprehended after he drove up to a White House gate and refused to leave, the Secret Service said, prompting bomb technicians in full gear to search the vehicle as agents shut down nearby streets.

Where is this going? We shall see, for whom does the bell toll? It tolls for thee.

Bells, tridents, beheadings. White House invasions, child endangerment, NFL players being charged with domestic violence. What are these times we are experiencing. The bell is tolling for thee. Is it really something distance, or are these events close to home?

Why Bells now? Is the metaphor ringing as a herald of news? Or of danger?

I have talked of "Bells" in synchrocinema before. See, for example, 2008's "The Brotherhood of the Bell" and my recycled thoughts on "Yeti, Jimmy Stewart, Bell and Book."

In Jim Brandon's 1983 book, The Rebirth of Pan: Hidden Faces of the American Earth Spirit, he writes, regarding the "name game":

I'm not talking here of such spooky tongue-twisters as H.P. Lovecraft's Yog-Sothoth or Arthur Machen's Ishakshar, but of quite ordinary names like Bell, Beall and variants, Crowley, Francis, Grafton, Grubb, Magee/McGee, Mason, McKinney, Montpelier, Parsons, Pike, Shelby, Vernon, Watson/Watt, Williams/Williamson. I have others on file, but these are the ones which I have accumulated the most instances.

In my 1983 Mysterious America, I wrote:

Cryptologic or coincidence? Jim Brandon should be credited with calling attention to the name Watts/Watkins/Watson, and its entanglement with inexplicable things. Some other names involved in mysterious events pinpointed by Brandon are Bell, Mason, Parsons, Pike, Vernon, and Warren. The influence of such names as Mason, Pike, Warren, and Lafayette, for example, issues, in some cryptopolitical and occult way, from their ties to the Masonic tradition.

From the original source, the Dictionary of American Family Names (Oxford University Press, 2013), the following is shared for the meaning of the name Bell:

Scottish and northern English: from Middle English belle ‘bell,’ in various applications; most probably a metonymic occupational name for a bell ringer or bell maker, or a topographic name for someone living ‘at the bell’ (as attested by 14th-century forms such as John atte Belle). This indicates either residence by an actual bell (e.g. a town’s bell in a bell tower, centrally placed to summon meetings, sound the alarm, etc.) or ‘at the sign of the bell’, i.e. a house or inn sign (although surnames derived from house and inn signs are rare in Scots and English). 

Scottish and northern English: from the medieval personal name Bel. As a man’s name this is from Old French beu, bel ‘handsome,’ which was also used as a nickname. As a female name it represents a short form of Isobel, a form of Elizabeth. 

Scottish: Americanized form of Gaelic Mac Giolla Mhaoil ‘son of the servant of the devotee.’ 

Jewish (Ashkenazic): Americanized form of one or more like-sounding Jewish surnames. 

Norwegian: habitational name from a farmstead in western Norway named Bell, the origin of which is unexplained. 

Scandinavian: of English or German origin; in German as a habitational name for someone from Bell in Rhineland, Germany, or possibly from Belle in Westphalia. Americanized spelling of German Böhl or Böll (see Boehle, Boll).

The bell and the trident - and beheadings - appear in combination in many cultures.

Hot Name Game of 2014: Logan

A mass killing, which happened on Monday, had the "coincidental" detail that one of the victims was a researcher of mass shootings.

The place name of where this event happened caught my synchromystic attention. There appears to be a none-too-subtle name game occurring currently.

Mass Killings in Logan

In a breaking news item for Monday, July 14, 2014, the target location was Logan, Utah.

The Deseret News reported:

A Logan man forced his way into an apartment shortly after midnight Monday, killing a former girlfriend and another man before breaking into an apartment of a second man and killing himself, police said.
Investigators say Jared Jay Tolman, a member of the Utah National Guard, was apparently jealous over two men who liked his ex-girlfriend.
Tolman, 23, of Logan, kicked in the door of an apartment at 636 E. 500 North and shot MacKenzie Madden, 19, and Johnathon Jacob Sadler, 25, multiple times with a rifle, police said. About 45 minutes later he broke into an apartment at 1693 N. 400 West, where he took his own life.
“Basically there were three boys all interested in the same girl,” said Logan Police Lt. Rod Peterson. "Mr. Tolman is one of the three men that is interested in MacKenzie, and I’m not sure he was particularly fond of whatever relationship Johnathon had with MacKenzie."

Tolman then went looking for another male friend of Madden's in another apartment, did not find that individual, and killed himself.

Tolman recently graduated from USU and was serving in the Utah Army National Guard. This was his initial enlistment. He was assigned to the 19th Special Forces Unit, General Support Battalion, said National Guard spokesman Lt. Col. Stephen Fairbourn. Tolman had duties of laundry and equipment handler at the time of his death. Tolman was in the process of getting out of the National Guard, he said, but the paperwork had not been completed.
The weapon used in the killings was a personal one that Tolman owned and not a government or military issued weapon, according to police.

The Deseret News chillingly noted:

Madden was a student at Utah State University, working toward a bachelor's degree in both sociology and psychology with a minor in criminal justice and a certificate in law and society area studies, according to her LinkedIn page.
Logan police confirmed that Madden interned with the department during 2013 and compiled research on active shooter situations. She graduated from Hillcrest High School in 2011.

Monday's Logan death of three follows other recent horrific Utah stories, including July 12th's "Wicker Man-Like Human Sacrifice: Element 11's Fire Suicide."

Even today, another Logan incident occurred. In Chicago, Illinois, a driver struck a pedestrian walking in the Logan Square neighborhood, in the 2700-block of North Hamlin Avenue, around 12:15 a.m., Wednesday, July 16, 2014. After a brief chase, police arrested the hit-and-run driver near West LeMoyne Street and North Monticello Avenue in the city's Humboldt Park neighborhood, about two miles from where the individual was hit. The victim was taken to Illinois Masonic Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. He is expected to recover.

Another high profile story- with links to Logan - happened on July 9, 2014, when Ronald Haskell shot and killed most of a Morman family in Spring, Texas, including 39-year-old Stephen Robert Stay; his wife, 33-year-old Katie Stay; and their four children: Bryan, 13; Emily, 9; Rebecca, 7; and Zachary, 4. Haskell had previously lived and had domestic violence situations occur between himself and his then-wife (Melannie Kaye Lyon) in Logan, Utah (a Mormon community). Haskell lived in Logan, Utah, from July 2006 to November 2013, mostly with his then-wife.

The town of Logan (Utah) was founded in 1859 by Mormon settlers sent by Brigham Young to survey for the site of a fort near the banks of the Logan River. They named their new community Logan for Ephraim Logan, an early fur trapper in the area.

Logan has popped up earlier in 2014.

On Friday, January 17, 2014, two students were wounded at 3:20 pm, during a shooting inside the Delaware Valley Charter High School, 5201 Old York Road, Logan, Pennsylvania. An 18-year-old female student was shot in the arm. The same bullet then entered a 17-year-old Tyler Lewis's shoulder. Both victims were taken to Albert Einstein Medical Center and survived. The alleged shooter is Raisheem Rochwell.


On Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Princeton, Illinois, five-year-old Logan Jacobs died when he was left in a hot (84°) car.

The Name Game and Logan

In the 1970s, in Fortean Times, I first wrote an article about the "name game." I then extended my thoughts on this matter in my book Mysterious America (starting in 1983, through the revised edition of 2007), I highlighted in one chapter, the "Name Game," adding to the historically gathered examples.

I had first noted,

...devils' names and Fortean places. The fact that some areas had strange and weird vibrations or events connected to them gave Native Americans and later settlers enough evidence to actually label these locales after the Ruler of Hell. In America, the use of the name "devil" regarding certain geographical fixtures, therefore, gives some indication of a history of mystery surrounding these spots.

Needless to say, through my other books and this Twilight Language blog, the "name game" has been revisited often.

I've noticed, of late, that the name game is focussing on the moniker "Logan," and it is intensive, including mass shootings, especially for Utah.

In Gaelic the meaning of the name Logan is "from the hollow." In Scottish, the meaning is sometimes translated as "Finnian's servant."

I pinpointed Logan as a "power name" in my 1983-2007 book.

"Logan" is another one of those words. Rocking logan stones are a part of ancient megalithic research. My brother [Jerry Dale] and I interviewed the Lowe family about the big birds' attempted abduction of Marlon from their front yard, in Logan County, Illinois. Another Logan County, this one in Colorado, has had an unusually high number of cattle mutilations and one 1975 mystery helicopter report. Logan County, Colorado, also has had an 1897 airship account, as has Logan, Ohio. Loganville, Wisconsin, sits but a stone's throw from the woods around Baraboo, said to be haunted by ghost elephants. A lake monster supposedly made an 1835 appearance in Logansport, Indiana. Logan Peak, near Huntsville, Alabama, the location of UFO, Bigfoot and mystery explosion reports, is a short distance north of Hobbs [="devil's"] Island. Logan, Kansas, saw some unexplained bird deaths in 1978. Logan, Utah was frequented by UFOs during the late 1940s and early 1950s. A May 1, 1954, flash of light was followed by an explosion and huge crater in Logan, Utah. It was on St. John's Day, June 24, 1980, when locals had several Bigfoot sightings, in Logan and Union counties, Ohio. Logan County, Ohio was the site of a past school shooting, as well. Scott Moody, 18, just hours away from graduating from high school, fatally shot three family members (his grandparents and mother), two friends and himself on Sunday, May 29, 2005, in rural Bellefontaine, Ohio - Logan County.

Now in 2014, the Logan under a synchronicity microscope seems to be the Mormon community with that name in Utah.

Frank Lloyd Wright's Synchromysticism Continues

His influence remains powerful today.

June 8th is special. Frank Lloyd Wright was born Frank Lincoln Wright on June 8, 1867. He died on April 9, 1959, a lover, a visionary, a Fortean, and an architect.

On FLW's birthday, I thought it might be appropriate to re-visit a part of FLW's life that mixed symbolism, tragedies, and name games. Few recall today that a servant set fire to his special Taliesin, and killed his lover and six other people. 

In 1903, Wright designed a house for Edwin Cheney, a neighbor in Oak Park, and immediately took a liking to Cheney's wife, Mamah Borthwick Cheney. Mamah Cheney was a modern woman with interests outside the home. She was an early feminist and Wright viewed her as his intellectual equal. The two fell in love, and they became the talk of the town, as they often could be seen taking rides in Wright's automobile through Oak Park.

In 1909, even before the Robie House (shown above) was completed, Wright and Mamah Cheney went together to Europe, leaving their own spouses and children behind. Scholars argue that Wright felt by 1907 that he had done everything he could do with the Prairie Style, particularly from the standpoint of the single-family house.

After Wright's return to the United States in October 1910, Wright persuaded his mother to buy land for him in Spring Green, Wisconsin. The land, bought on April 10, 1911, was adjacent to land held by his mother's family, the Lloyd-Joneses. Wright began to build himself a new home, which he called Taliesin (pictured above), by May 1911. The recurring theme of Taliesin also came from his mother's side: Taliesin in Welsh mythology was a poet, magician, and priest. The family motto was Y Gwir yn Erbyn y Byd which means "The Truth Against the World"; it was created by Iolo Morgannwg who also had a son called Taliesin, and the motto is still used today as the cry of the druids and chief bard of the Eisteddfod in Wales.

On August 15, 1914, while Wright was working in Chicago, Julian Carlton (pictured), a male servant from Barbados who had been hired several months earlier, set fire to the living quarters of Taliesin and murdered seven people with an axe as the fire burned.

The dead included Mamah; her two children, John and Martha; a gardener; a draftsman named Emil Brodelle; a workman; and another workman's son. Two people survived the mayhem, one of whom helped to put out the fire that almost completely consumed the residential wing of the house. Carlton swallowed hydrochloric acid immediately following the attack in an attempt to kill himself. He was nearly lynched on the spot, but was taken to the Dodgeville jail. Carlton died from starvation seven weeks after the attack, despite medical attention.
In 1922, Kitty Wright finally granted Wright a divorce. Under the terms of the divorce, Wright was required to wait one year before he could marry his then-partner, Maude "Miriam" Noel. In 1923, Wright's mother, Anna (Lloyd Jones) Wright, died. Wright wed Miriam Noel in November 1923, but her addiction to morphine led to the failure of the marriage in less than one year. In 1924, after the separation but while still married, Wright met Olga (Olgivanna) Lazovich Hinzenburg at a Petrograd Ballet performance in Chicago. They moved in together at Taliesin in 1925, and soon Olgivanna was pregnant with their daughter, Iovanna, born on December 2, 1925.
On April 20, 1925, another fire destroyed the bungalow at Taliesin. Crossed wires from a newly installed telephone system were deemed to be responsible for the blaze, which destroyed a collection of Japanese prints that Wright estimated to be worth $250,000 to $500,000. Wright rebuilt the living quarters, naming the home "Taliesin III".
In 1926, Olga's ex-husband, Vlademar Hinzenburg, sought custody of his daughter, Svetlana. In October 1926, Wright and Olgivanna were accused of violating the Mann Act and arrested in Tonka Bay, Minnesota. The charges were later dropped. During this period, Wright designed Graycliff (1926–1931), the summer estate of Isabelle and Darwin D. Martin.
Wright and Miriam Noel's divorce was finalized in 1927, and once again, Wright was required to wait for one year before remarrying. Wright and Olgivanna married in 1928. ~ Wikipedia summary.
