Ebola Scare At Logan on Ebola Discovery Anniversary

Posted on 6:26 PM by Gawar

On Monday, October 13, 2015, at about 2:45 p.m, a Hazmat team boarded Emirates Flight 237 to tend to five sick passengers, all from Dubai. At least one individual was placed in a "protective suit" and removed from the plane.

The ill people had not traveled to West Africa, but recently to Mecca, before coming to the USA. The incident occurred at Boston's Logan Airport. Everyone on the East Coast usually just refers to the airport as "Logan."

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said there was no Ebola scare at Boston's Logan Airport on Monday after concerns were raised when five passengers with flu-like symptoms were removed from a flight that landed there.

"There was not an Ebola scare at Boston's Logan Airport," Shelly Diaz, a CDC spokeswoman, said.

Emergency crews in protective gear removed the passengers from Emirates flight 237 after it had arrived from Dubai on Monday.

When is an Ebola scare not an Ebola scare? Perhaps we just saw one happen at Logan?

A Special Day/A Special Name: October 13th

Why is this day unlike any other day?

As Nick DeLuca at BostInno pointed out, "According to an eerie TIME magazine article, the Ebola virus was first observed by the human eye on this day 38-years ago."

TIME began their article, "On Oct. 13, 1976, exactly 38 years ago Monday, Frederick A. Murphy, a CDC virologist and expert in photographing viruses peered into a microscope and saw what he describes today as a “dark beauty — [a] horror.”

Who?

Wikipedia says, "Reports conflict about who initially coined the name: either Karl Johnson of the American CDC team or Belgian researchers."

Richard Preston wrote in The Hot Zone (NY: Anchor Books/Random House, 1995), wrote on page 117, "Karl Johnson named it Ebola."

Peter Piot, at the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp in 1976.

Michael Hoffman, "a longtime student of Twilight Language," recently wrote about the naming of the "Ebola virus":

The following is taken from an October 4 (2014) interview with the Flemish virologist Prof. Peter Piot, said to be the "discoverer," in 1976, of the "Ebola" virus. He is currently the director of the London School of Tropical Medicine.
In an interview with England’s Observer newspaper, Piot states that victims of the pathogen were first infected in "Yambuku and the area around it," in what had been the old Belgian Congo. (In 1976 it was called Zaire; today it is again named Congo).
He gives the following account of how the virus was named:
Observer newspaper: You were also the one who gave the virus its name. Why Ebola?
Peter Piot: "On that day our team sat together late into the night – we had also had a couple of drinks – discussing the question. We definitely didn't want to name the new pathogen 'Yambuku virus,' because that would have stigmatized the place forever. There was a map hanging on the wall and our American team leader suggested looking for the nearest river and giving the virus its name. It was the Ebola river. So by around three or four in the morning we had found a name. But the map was small and inexact. We only learned later that the nearest river was actually a different one. But Ebola is a nice name, isn't it?"
Piot and an anonymous "American team leader" supposedly named the virus after "the nearest river," Ebola, which, as it turns out, was not the nearest river. This river-naming explanation is repeated by the Establishment media without question.

....Piot's enigmatic statement that "Ebola is a nice name" is bizarre; almost a hint pointing to a clue. [For more on what this may be about, please read here.]
The French surname Piot is derived from a personal or physical characteristic of the initial bearer, from "pion" indicating "a pedestrian, that is, one who walks on foot."

The Hot Name For 2014

On July 16, 2014, I wrote "Hot Name Game of 2014: Logan." A mass killing, which occurred on July 14th, had the "coincidental" detail that one of the victims was a researcher of mass shootings. The place name where this event happened caught my synchromystic attention, for it was Logan, Utah. The multiple murders and suicide focussed my attention on the name Logan.

The incidents of the name "Logan" being spotted in violence situations this year have been intriguing.

On Friday, January 17, 2014, two students were wounded at 3:20 pm, during a shooting inside the Delaware Valley Charter High School, Logan, Pennsylvania. An 18-year-old female student was shot in the arm. The same bullet then entered a 17-year-old Tyler Lewis's shoulder.

On Sunday, May 25, 2014, at Princeton, Illinois, five-year-old Logan Jacobs died when he was left in a hot (84°) car.

On July 9, 2014, Ronald Haskell shot and killed six members of the Morman family of Stays in Spring, Texas. Haskell had previously lived and had domestic violence situations occur between himself and his then-wife (Melannie Kaye Lyon) in Logan, Utah (a Mormon community). Haskell lived in Logan, Utah, from July 2006 to November 2013, mostly with his then-wife.

In Chicago, Illinois, a driver struck a pedestrian walking in the Logan Square neighborhood, on July 16, 2014.

On September 25, 2014, at the Vaughan Foods processing plant in Moore, about 10 miles south of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, 30-year-old Alton Alexander Nolen beheaded Colleen Hufford, 54. Nolen's criminal record notes he had two felonies related to selling pot in Logan County, Oklahoma.

Looking Into Logan

In Gaelic the meaning of the name Logan is "from the hollow." In Scottish, the meaning is sometimes translated as "Finnian's servant."

I pinpointed Logan as a "power name" in my 1983 (updated in 2007) book, Mysterious America: The Ultimate Guide to the Nation's Weirdest Wonders, Strangest Spots, and Creepiest Creatures:

"Logan" is another one of those words. Rocking logan stones are a part of ancient megalithic research. My brother [Jerry Dale] and I interviewed the Lowe family about the big birds' attempted abduction of Marlon from their front yard, in Logan County, Illinois. Another Logan County, this one in Colorado, has had an unusually high number of cattle mutilations and one 1975 mystery helicopter report. Logan County, Colorado, also has had an 1897 airship account, as has Logan, Ohio. Loganville, Wisconsin, sits but a stone's throw from the woods around Baraboo, said to be haunted by ghost elephants. A lake monster supposedly made an 1835 appearance in Logansport, Indiana. Logan Peak, near Huntsville, Alabama, the location of UFO, Bigfoot and mystery explosion reports, is a short distance north of Hobbs [="devil's"] Island. Logan, Kansas, saw some unexplained bird deaths in 1978. Logan, Utah was frequented by UFOs during the late 1940s and early 1950s. A May 1, 1954, flash of light was followed by an explosion and huge crater in Logan, Utah. In the 1980s, women were disappearing from Boston's Logan Airport and thus ending this list unended.

No surprises that Ebola and Logan have overlapped in 2014 on this special anniversary date. What's next?

Aurora Fire: A Self-Immolation?

Posted on 6:05 AM by Gawar

The Aurora fire in the FAA air traffic control tower appears to have been a probable suicidal event.

Charged with one count of Destruction of Aircraft or Aircraft Facilities was Brian Howard of 1307 Ivy Lane, Apt #201, Naperville, Illinois, in connection with the fire at the FAA Air Route Traffic Control Center in Aurora, Illinois.
ABC News reports:
According to the complaint, Harris allegedly entered the facility at 5:06 a.m. dragging a black hard-sided roller board suitcase. The complaint alleges that at 5:36 a.m., a message appeared on a Facebook account held in Howard’s name, and that message, containing a reference to ZAU, the three-letter call number for the facility, was subsequently forwarded to law enforcement authorities.
Paramedics from the Aurora Fire Department, responding to a 911 call at 5:42 a.m. by an individual at the facility, entered the basement and followed a trail of blood that ultimately led to an individual later identified as Harris, according to the complaint.
Thomas told reporters this morning, "It appears to be a fire set by a contract employee. There was no terrorist act."
The suspect was taken to the hospital with burns all over his body and self-inflicted knife wounds, a federal law enforcement source told ABC News. Howard was not an FAA employee but authorized to be in the facility, according to two sources. His motivation is still unclear.
A federal law enforcement official told ABC News “It sounds like it [the fire] was intentionally set,” though adding “it does not sound like it was an attack on the facility.”

Various 2014 and 2013 incidents of self-immolations are noted here, here, here, and here.

The postcard, at top, of Aurora, Illinois, the "City of Lights," is from 1911.

Three Women Killed by Beheaded Gargoyle, Falling Tree Branch, and Hanging Suicide

Posted on 7:12 PM by Gawar

Sarah Bean, a mother of two sons, was killed, while walking, when a gargoyle that was beheaded by a piece of metal hit her directly on the head. She died almost instantly as she walked passed Chicago's Second Presbyterian Church, built in 1874, on Thursday, September 4, 2014.

The beheading of the gargoyle is an intriguing tidbit considering all the beheading news of late.

Cory Panshin of Quakertown adds on Facebook: "This was apparently the church favored by the Gilded Age robber barons and it is full of Tiffany windows and other extravagances of the 1%."

Kirk Sigurdson at New York University comments publicly on Facebook: "Gargoyle is a word that literally comes from the sound a person's throat makes when he or she gargles. Like 'barbarian' a word that comes from the sound of a guttural language to Romans, gargoyle is onomatopoeia, literally a word based upon a sound. I shudder to think the sound that woman made, immediately after being struck by a daemonic head of stone, if she had time and my prayers are with her and her poor family. Gargoyles on Christian churches are a testament of how far most forms of Christianity have been pushed from their original roots of 'casting out demons' with love and light that dispels animal magnetism."

Molly Glynn, a mother of two sons and an actress, was killed, while riding her bike, when a tree branch fell and struck her on her head. This occurred on Friday, September 5, 2014, as she was riding with her husband, fellow theater actor Joe Foust, near Willow Road, in Rogers Park, in Chicago. Her television credits include "Boss" on Starz and NBC's "Chicago Fire," in which she played an emergency room doctor.

Simone Battle was killed by her own hand in a hanging suicide in Beverly Hills, California. Battle, who appeared to be on the verge of realizing her lifelong dream of stardom, hanged herself Friday, September 5, 2014, the Los Angeles County coroner's spokesman said Monday. She was found hanging in a closet at about 7:45 am Friday, according to Assistant Chief Coroner Ed Winter.

Battle, 25, was an "X Factor" finalist in 2011 and a singer with G.R.L., a girls group created last year to replace the Pussycat Dolls.

She and her four bandmates found success in 2014 with their music, including a collaboration with Pitbull. G.R.L. performed on ABC's "Good Morning America" last month.

It is obvious that this could be an entertainment copycat suicide, modeled after Robin Williams. Several similar elements have aligned in this death: entertainer, hanging, closet, suicide, California.

The name "Simone Battle" literally means "loud/heard sustained fight between large, organized armed forces."

Enfield-McDaniel Name Game

Posted on 9:06 AM by Gawar

The Enfield Monster

The weekend of Saturday May 5th and Sunday May 6th ranks as one of those anniversaries that creeps into our consciousness, as it is mainly recalled as the peak date of the Enfield Monster mania. It was on May 6, 1973, that Henry McDaniel, for the second and last time, saw the thing that haunted the southern Illinois town of Enfield.

I was reminded of this recently by an old MacArthur High School classmate Dave Wooten, who only lately discovered I was the guy behind the initial investigations of that melodrama in southern Illinois. That he had some personal and physical links to the memories of the events back then surprised me. It is a small world.

Dave wrote: “Do you know I was there and didn’t know you were ‘on the case’! My uncle Cash Wooten was for a time game warden and county commissioner [there]. Cousin Ron Wooten is now commissioner. My grandpa Garwood lived in Enfield, just up from the tracks. I remember my aunt would not leave her windows open at night!”

The Enfield Monster period was during the time of “High Strangeness” sweeping the USA in the 1970s. At the time, I was an anthropology student at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, but had moved back to central Illinois again, taking anthropology/zoology courses at the University of Illinois. Naturally, when reports of an unknown creature was registered deeper in the bottomlands at the other end of the state, I traveled there to investigate.

The facts of the case are well-known. On April 25, 1973, Mr. and Mrs. Henry McDaniel returned to their home and Henry had an encounter with a thing that looked like it had three legs, two pink eyes as big as flashlights, and short arms on a four-and-a-half-feet tall and grayish-colored body, along the L&N railroad tracks, in front of his house.

A young man, Greg Garrett, had the incredible distinction of having his tennis shoe covered foot stepped on by the sort of kangaroo-like, apelike thing. I was there, soon afterward, in that May of 1973, and interviewed various principals.

The Enfield Horror

Illinois investigator Troy Taylor, years later, would rename it the Enfield Horror and summarize, online, what happened next, this way:
On May 6, Henry McDaniel was awakened in the middle of the night by howling neighborhood dogs. He looked out his front door and saw the monster again. It was standing out near the railroad tracks. “I didn’t shoot at it or anything,” McDaniel reported. “It started on down the railroad track. It wasn’t in a hurry or anything.”
McDaniel’s reports soon brought publicity to Enfield and prompted the threats from the county sheriff, but it was too late. Soon, hordes of curiosity-seekers, reporters and researchers descended on the town. Among the “monster hunters” were five young men who were arrested by Deputy Sheriff Jim Clark as “threats to public safety” and for hunting violations. This was after they had opened fire on a gray, hairy thing that they had seen in some underbrush on May 8. Two of the men thought they had hit it, but it sped off, moving faster than a man could.
One more credible witness to the monster was Rick Rainbow, who was then the news director of radio station WWKI in Kokomo, Indiana. He and three other persons spotted the monster near an abandoned house, just a short distance from McDaniel’s place. They didn’t get much of a look at it as it was running away from them, but they later described it as about five feet tall, gray and stooped over. Rainbow did manage to tape record its cry. The wailing was also heard by eminent researcher Loren Coleman, who also came to try and track down the creature. He also heard the sound while searching an area near the McDaniel home. ~ in The Enfield Horror: The Strangest Monster Sighting in Illinois.
I did travel to Enfield in 1973, with Fortean investigator Richard Crowe and a friend of his. We searched fields, farms, and railroad tracks. We talked to many locals.

I interviewed the witnesses, examined at the siding and air conditioner damage on the McDaniel house, heard some strange screeching banshee-like sounds, took photographs, and walked away bewildered.

I wrote up my notes on the accounts for articles like “Swamp Slobs Invade Illinois” in Fate Magazine, July 1974, and in my subsequent books.

But time moves on, and new details have emerged.

Dave Wooten’s 80 year old aunt was still alive a couple years ago, when he asked her, “Where is Greg Garrett these days?”

She answered: “Greg Garrett is dead.”

As it turns out, Garrett was killed when he was shot in the back by his wife, as he was sitting on his front porch in Enfield, Illinois, several years ago. Garrett’s wife was later acquitted of any homicide charges, as her “self-defense” arguments held up in court.

Wooten did some more checking. He talked to Bob Duckworth, the White County Sheriff at the time, and verified that Garrett was the kid that saw the Enfield monster, which also McDaniel reported seeing. Duckworth said that indeed Garrett was killed by his wife Rosie over 25 years ago.

The Name Game

Greg Garrett died violently, pierced in the back by gunfire, apparently. The name Garrett, in English, means "rules by the spear" or "hard or bold spear." American and Norse meanings for the name equal the notion "defender." In Teutonic, the meaning of the name Garrett is "spear strength." Greg means "on the watch" and "watchful." It appears that Greg Garrett, who once avoided the force of the attack of the Enfield Monster, exhibited behaviors leading to revenge from behind. He had let his guard down, it would seem.

The family name McDaniel would be highlighted two years after the Illinois incidents in John A. Keel’s The Mothman Prophecies. The McDaniels would be one of the focal points of the Mothman stories, as you may recall. Within the context of my 1983 book, Mysterious America, I pointed out in the name game chapter the two McDaniel threads from Enfield, Illinois, and Point Pleasant, West Virginia.

Let me share some of those passages with you here.

McDaniel, of course, is a name familiar for its Mothman links.
This reminds me of my exchange with [John A.] Keel about the name game in 1973, when we were discussing the new reports out of Illinois, from Enfield. On April 25, 1973, Mr. and Mrs. Henry McDaniel returned to their home and Henry had an encounter with a thing that looked like it had three legs, two pink eyes as big as flashlights, and short arms on a four-and-a-half-feet tall and grayish-colored body, along the L&N rail-road tracks, in front of his house. I traveled to Enfield....
John Keel wondered aloud with me about these reports, as he had returned from Point Pleasant well aware of the vortex the McDaniel family had found themselves in. One of the first Mothman witnesses, Linda Scarberry, was, after all, a McDaniel. Her mother saw Mothman. The McDaniel home was the focus of MIBs, telephone troubles, and poltergeist activity, thus involving Parke McDaniel and Mabel McDaniel with the Mothman flap.
Keel had uncovered a 1870s story of an individual named McDaniel who had met up with the Devil in New York State’s Catskill Mountains. Western Bigfoot Society member Vic McDaniel led expedition members to where he had found a Sasquatch bed in August 1979. As the 20th century ended, Stanley V. McDaniel, a philosophy professor and member of the Society for Planetary SETI Research, began to make a name for himself, to turn a phrase, when he produced The McDaniel Report, and a book, The Case for the Face, on his research into the possibility of artificial objects on the surface of Mars. ~ Mothman and Other Curious Encounters (NY: Paraview, 2002)
John Keel discussed the 1966-1967 Mothman-McDaniel family troubles further:
The McDaniel family had been living in the twilight zone ever since their daughter and the others had first glimpsed “Mothman.” Linda had repeatedly heard the sound “of a speeded-up phonograph record” around her own home after the incident, and peculiar manifestations indicating the presence of a poltergeist began. Finally she and Roger moved into the basement apartment in the McDaniel’s home. The poltergeist followed them. Strange lights appeared in the house, objects moved by themselves, and the heavy odor of cigar smoke was frequently noted. No one in the family smokes. (The smell of cigar smoke is commonly reported in many poltergeist cases throughout the world.) One morning Linda woke up and distinctly saw the shadowy form of a large man in the room. The house was searched. All the doors were still locked. There was no sign of a prowler. The McDaniels’ experience was one of many during the thirteen intense months of the Mothman flap. ~ Strange Creatures from Time and Space (Greenwich, CT: Fawcett, 1970.
I continued a look at this name game...
Mabel McDaniel had seen Mothman on January 11, 1967, near Tiny’s Restaurant in Point Pleasant; then later during March, had a run-in with one of those Mad Gasser/Springheel Jack-type fellows, the Men-In-Black. Parke McDaniel had likewise been frightened by the Men-In-Black on December 23, 1967. Keel felt the name McDaniel had a far greater recurrence in these matters than random….
Keel himself has raised the question of name selectivity in his writings: “Hundreds of thousands of phenomenal events have been described in newspapers, magazines and books, and hundreds of thousands of witnesses have been named in print. When dealing with such a large body of evidence—or population—certain laws of probability should surface. We might expect that more Smiths would see UFOs than anyone else, simply because there are more Smiths around. But, in actuality, the name Smith rarely appears in a UFO report.”
What Keel found was that unusual names were the point of convergence for the phenomena. He saw McDaniel, Reeves/Reaves, Maddox, Heflin, Allen, Hill, and others, as being selected for UFO and related experiences. The Smiths, Browns, Williams, and Johnsons—the four top surnames in America—are not the most frequent precipitant names to crop up. I would add that the most unusually named witnesses seem to have the more bizarre encounters. ~ Mysterious America (NY: Simon and Schuster, 2007).
McDaniel has a complex history to find its meaning. It is an altered form of Irish McDonnell "son of Donal," from an incorrect association of the Gaelic patronymic with the personal name Daniel ("God is my judge") - who, in the Bible, is eventually thrown to the lions. McDaniel thus is actually from the Gaelic form of Irish Donal (equivalent to Scottish Donald), and erroneously associated with the Biblical personal name Daniel. Mc means ‘son of’; therefore the surname McDaniel is Scottish in origin and derives from the ancient celtic domno "world" + val "might," "rule."

The Enfield name game is intriguing, as well. In Canada, there is an Enfield, Nova Scotia. American cities named Enfield are found in Illinois, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, and North Carolina. There is an Enfield in Ireland, and three in Australia. All of these names point back to the original Enfield from England.

Enfield was recorded in Domesday Book in 1086 as Enefelde, and as Einefeld in 1214, Enfeld in 1293, and Enfild in 1564: that is "open land of a man called Ēana," or "where lambs are reared," from the Old English feld with an Old English personal name or with Old English ēan "lamb." The feld would have been a reference to an area cleared of trees within woodland later to become Enfield Chase.

"The word Enfield also has a meaning in heraldry, it is a mythical beast having the head of a fox, the chest of a greyhound, the body of a lion, the hindquarters and tail of a wolf, and forelegs like an eagle's talons. The origin of the word in this context is disputed," notes one site.

Within the field of parapsychology, the Enfield Poltergeist was the name given to claims of poltergeist activity at a council house in Brimsdown village, borough of Enfield, England, beginning in August 1977.

Many casual observers of the unexplained may have assumed the Enfield Monster of the USA was a phenomenon reported after the events of the Enfield Poltergeist of the UK, but, in reality, the Illinois sightings predate the English ones by over 4 years.

My book (with Jerome Clark), Creatures of the Outer Edge, first appearing in 1978, gave some national expose to the Enfield, Illinois, creature reports. Today that book is found as the second part of this recent reprint, The Unidentified and Creatures of the Outer Edge: The Early Works of Jerome Clark and Loren Coleman.

Washington Named Locales Hit Hard By Tornadoes

Posted on 4:54 PM by Gawar
A lone bell symbolizes the damage of the EF4 tornado in New Minden.

After so much news along the old Route 66, are we surprised to see where these tornadoes struck?

The town of Washington and New Minden, Washington County, in two parts of the State of Illinois, were deeply involved in the tornado strikes on Sunday, November 17, 2013.

The Washington County Coroner’s Office in southern Illinois has confirmed two deaths attributed Sunday’s EF4 tornado that touched down in the New Minden area.

Joseph R. Hoy, 80 and his sister Frances J. Hoy were killed Sunday as a result of a tornado that touched down in the New Minden, Illinois area. The Hoy’s lived on a farm in the 14000 block of Eagle Road that was completely destroyed.

Josephs Hoy died from massive head trauma, he was located in a field about 100 yards from his home. His sister Frances died at the Washington County Hospital, from injuries suffered from the tornado.

Meanwhile, southwest of Chicago, the town of Coal City was hit by a confirmed EF2 tornado, determined after an initial NWS survey of the area.

One death was also reported in Brookport, in Massac County, Illinois, according to Charles Taylor, deputy director, Massac County Emergency Management. Taylor added the town was heavily damaged and numerous injuries have been reported.

The town of Washington, in Tazewell County, Illinois, appeared particularly hard-hit, with one resident saying his neighborhood was wiped out in a matter of seconds by a tornado.

Decatur Again: School Shooting Season Begins

Posted on 3:29 PM by Gawar

Decatur, Georgia, was in the news a week ago. A school shooting nearly became deadly, and, I speculate because of the publicity about it, a workplace shooting occurred over the weekend.

Mass shootings follow a known pattern - another form of school, business-related, or mass violence usually comes within days of a well-publicized event - then more routinely another shooting happens in a week, two weeks, a month, and a year. It doesn't always take place with such regularity, but it often does.

The other predictor of future shootings is the copycat effect that comes into play after an end of the school year outburst. It feels like a Newtown bounce this fall may happen; I hope not but such a possibility is worthy of being on our radar.

Awareness is a key. People protecting others in schools, colleges, malls, churches, workplaces, and similar locations need to be alert. We are entering a dangerous "red zone" time of year.

The Rebirth of Pan (1st edition, Firebird Press, 1983)

Mysterious America (1st edition cover, Faber & Faber, 1983)

Decatur again. Yes. We are use to Decatur in the weird news. Jim Brandon pointed out "Decatur" as a "power name" in his The Rebirth of Pan in 1983, and I wrote about it as part of the "Name Game" in Mysterious America, also first in 1983.

First described as "Atlanta-area," the "almost deadly" school shooting happening last Tuesday, August 20, 2013, occurred at Decatur, Georgia's Ronald E. McNair Discovery Learning Academy. The elementary school was named for the second AfricanAmerican astronaut, who died aboard the Challenger, the space shuttle that exploded after takeoff on January 28, 1986.

Michael Brandon Hill, 20, opened fire in the school, using an AK-47, to six bullets in the floor of the office. But as he was calmed down by school bookkeeper Antoinette Tuff, who spoke to Hill while on the phone with the 911 operator. She talked him into surrendering, and the publicity was heightened when President Obama called her a "hero."

Investigator T.L. Wortham of the DeKalb County Sheriff Department's Fugitive Unit told the media that as officers were apprehending the suspect, Hill said, "I'm sorry, I'm off my meds." Several weapons were seized, Wortham said.

Hill took a photo of himself (a "selfie") with an AK 47-style rifle and packed up nearly 500 rounds of ammunition — enough to shoot more than half the school's students - police later said.

After the Decatur incident, another shooting - with six shot - occurred on Saturday, August 25, 2013, in Lake Butler, Florida. The alleged shooter, Hubert Allen Jr., 72, was reported dead of a self-inflicted gunshot wound after a “complete shooting rampage” at Pritchett Trucking. The owner of Pritchett Trucking and the farm, Rolling Oaks, Marvin Pritchett, 80, was first killed. Allen then drove to a local bar where he shot and killed Romando Gonzales Delgado, 28, and then killed himself. The gunman was identified as the step-grandfather of Buffalo Bills running back C.J. Spiller.

Decatur, Georgia, has had its brushes with infamy in the recent past.

In June 5, 2012, a fight lead to a stabbing Decatur’s Columbia High School. Two days later, on Thursday, June 7, 2012, a gun was brought to the DeKalb County school after stabbing incident. And then on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2012, loaded guns were seized at two area high schools.

Mark David Chapman, the assassin of Beatle John Lennon, attended Decatur, Georgia's Columbia High School from 1971-1975. (His high school photograph is at top.)

Decatur, Illinois's old Transfer Station use to be located near Lincoln Square, named after the assassinated Illinois president.

My old hometown’s name, Decatur, (of Decatur, Illinois) has a Fortean mystique and synchromysticism about it that has created all kinds of mojo.

Several locations are named "Decatur" across the United States of America.

Such sites are named after the War of 1812′s Navy hero, Stephen Decatur, who fought against the Barbary pirates. Decatur at one time conducted tests in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey in 1804, and fired on the Jersey Devil. The records say that Stephen Decatur identified the winged creature as a “devil” – pale in color, with leathery bat-like wings. Decatur perforated one of the thing’s wings with a fired cannonball, but it seemed unfazed, which disturbed everybody who was there at the time. It flew off.

The word decatur (French in origin) is loosely translated as “dweller at the sign of the cat,” and Native Americans who lived in the area that is now Central Illinois had numerous stories of encounters with large dark predatory cats, which are still sighted in the area to this very day.

Stephen Decatur, a Masonic figure of some noteworthiness, is responsible, as well, for the Stephen Decatur House in Washington D.C., which is located on Lafayette Square.

Should we be surprised if an outburst of new violence occurs in the wake of the copycat effect recoil from Newtown? Will it "pick" a location with a "power name"?

How can the next wave be prevented? Certainly, ignoring the patterns of the past is not wise.

The Strange Syncs of the Church Bomb Suspect

Posted on 2:19 PM by Gawar
by Loren Coleman ©2012

“Mr. President, you can't say Dallas doesn't love you!”
~ Nellie Connally's last words to JFK.

Wait until you read of the swirls of syncs and conspiracies linked to a story that is breaking this weekend from Illinois, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Texas.

On Friday, October 5, 2012, police charged an Illinois man named Gregory Arthur Weiler II, after they discovered bomb-making materials and notes about destroying 48 churches in the Miami, Oklahoma, area, according to media accounts:
Miami police found detailed maps and torn-up pieces of paper in Weiler's motel room, according to an arrest affidavit filed in Ottawa County District Court.
The pieces of paper, when reassembled, were handwritten notes detailing a recipe for making Molotov cocktails and a list of 48 churches, the affidavit states.
The notes also included a hand-drawn map of the churches with a key detailing how many nights the congregations meet and how many people attend.
The Legacy Motel in Miami (pronounced My-AM-uh), Oklahoma,
where the evidence was discovered, is advertised to be "on the historical Route 66." (KOTV Video)

A journal found in Weiler’s motel room contained this entry:
Self Promote for the next 4 years while beginning list of goals written out in Oklahoma having to do with destroying and removing church buildings from U.S. a tiny bit at a time — setting foundation for the years to follow.
Literally mirroring the motel name, this man's legacy appears to be a disturbed one.

According to the Chicago Tribune,
Both his mother and father had committed suicide before he was 16, and Weiler had also tried to kill himself in 8th grade. He had been hospitalized for mental illness at least six times. In between, he had become addicted to heroin and alcohol.
When Weiler, 23, left several years ago to join a religious group in Missouri, his family knew they’d eventually hear that “Greg” had again gotten into trouble.
Why did both parents die by suicide about seven years ago? What is their story? What "religious group"? Where in Missouri? Oklahoma? Missouri? Illinois? Why all the different locales? Due to his mental illness? It probably, of course, is just a coincidence that his last name is Weiler, which means "village" or "small hamlet." This man's journey has been one of several small towns, and apparently personal hells.

Where in Illinois was Weiler from?

Most of the mass media articles say merely "Illinois." A few tell a bit more.

The Chicago Tribue noted, "Weiler checked into the [Oklahoma] motel on Sept. 20 using an Illinois driver’s license with an address in Washington, Ill., just east of Peoria."

Washington, Illinois, has an intriguing history. It was the location of a German POW subcamp beginning in 1943, during World War II, when a group of 50 prisons were moved from Camp Ellis in Fulton County, Illinois to Washington. The Germans were used in a canning factory (making K-ratios), a hospital, and even in local farms for the pumpkin harvest.

Some media, including a local Illinois newspaper the Daily Herald, point out that Weiler was "a former Elk Grove Village man."  Elk Grove Village is 145 miles away from Washington, Illinois. We are not talking about neighboring towns.

What do we know about Elk Grove Village?

Elk Grove Village? First, let's notice an area near here is heavily influenced and visually remembered as the land of Frank Lloyd Wright. Ten miles southeast of Elk Grove Village is the #1 tourist attraction in Oak Park, Illinois, Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio. Eleven miles southeast of Elk Grove Village is one of the most historical significant buildings that Wright ever built, the Unity Temple, a Unitarian Universalist church in Oak Park, Illinois, and the home of the Unity Temple Unitarian Universalist Congregation.

The Unity Temple has resulted in classic replicas of the structure, here from Edifice Models (above) and InFocusTech (below).

Who grows up in Elk Grove Village? I'll mention two musicians you may have heard of, Billy Corgan, lead singer and guitarist, and James Iha, guitarist, both of the The Smashing Pumpkins. (That's an intriguing sync to the harvesting of pumpkins by German POWs in Washington, Illinois.)

The Smashing Pumpkins's song "The End Is the Beginning Is the End," which won the 1998 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance, was played during the Batman & Robin movie's closing credits.

One of the more well-known former residents of Elk Grove Village is Dave Cullen, the author of the nonfiction bestseller Columbine, which, of course, is about the infamous school shooting in Littleton, Colorado, of April 20, 1999. (Aurora has replaced Columbine in American consciousness for the dishonor of the mostly recently recalled pivotal Colorado mass shooting; lessons are to be learned from Cullen's book.)

Elk Grove Village, a planned hamlet

By contrast to the nearby Oak Park area of architectural prowess, Elk Grove Village may be an extreme example of the other end of the spectrum. Elk Grove Village, incorporated in 1956 in Elk Grove Township, was originally founded as a planned suburban community. The majority of homes were constructed by Centex Corporation.
Centex "planned suburban communities" exist throughout the USA.

~ Bob Troup

What is Centex?

Noting to the side that it was founded in 1950, here is the total entry for Centex at Wikipedia: "Centex Corporation was a home builder headquartered in Dallas, Texas. The company was acquired by rival Pulte Homes in 2009 for 1.6 billion dollars."

Who do you think owned and developed the programmed concepts behind Centex in the 1950s?

Centex was owned by Clinton Murchison. Clinton Williams Murchison, Sr. (April 11, 1895 – June 20, 1969), was a noted Texas-based oil magnate and political operative.

Murchison? Murchison? Where have I heard that name before?

“Mr. President, you can't say Dallas doesn't love you!”
~ Nellie Connally's last words to JFK.

Oh yes, Clinton Williams Murchison, Sr. is one of the names one hears in conspiracy circles as being linked to a possible Texas oilman-generated circle of friends, allegedly behind the assassination of John F. Kennedy. In Dallas. On November 22, 1963.
Clint W. Murchison Sr. was married twice—first to Anne Morris (b. 1898, d. 1926). They had three children: John Murchison (b. 9-21-1921, d. 6-14-1979 ), Clint Murchison, Jr. (b. 9-12-1923, d. 3-30-1987), and Burk Yarbrough Murchison (b. 1-25-1925, d.1936). Murchison married again in 1943 to Virginia Long. They had no children.
In the late 1940s, Murchison and another Texas oil mogul, Sid Richardson, met FBI chief J. Edgar Hoover. It was the start of a long friendship. In 1952 the two worked together to mount a smear campaign against Democratic presidential candidate Adlai Stevenson. Hoover and his close friend and companion, Clyde Tolson, also invested heavily in Murchison's oil business.
November 21, 1963
Murchison was friends with Madeleine Duncan Brown, an advertising agent who would later claim to have had an extended love affair and a son with President Lyndon B[aines] Johnson.
In an appearance on the television program A Current Affair, Brown asserted that on November 21, 1963 — the night before the assassination of President John F. Kennedy — she attended a social gathering at Murchison's home in Dallas that she described as "one of the most significant gatherings in American history." The gathering included guest of honor J. Edgar Hoover, Clyde Tolson, oil magnate H. L. Hunt, John J. McCloy, Richard Nixon, George R. Brown, Robert L. Thornton, and others from the Suite 8F Group, a network of right-wing businessmen. At the end the evening, the sitting Vice President of the United States Lyndon [Baines] Johnson also arrived. Sources 1, 2, 3.

According to Brown:
Tension filled the room upon [Johnson's] arrival. The group immediately went behind closed doors. A short time later Lyndon, anxious and red-faced, reappeared. I knew how secretly Lyndon operated. Therefore I said nothing ... not even that I was happy to see him. Squeezing my hand so hard, it felt crushed from the pressure, he spoke with a grating whisper, a quiet growl, into my ear, not a love message, but one I'll always remember: "After tomorrow those goddamn Kennedys will never embarrass me again — that's no threat — that's a promise." Sources 1, 2, 3.

A fictionalized meeting, modeled on the one that was suppose to have occurred involving Texas oil barons, is shown in the docudrama film, Executive Action (1973).

Clint Sr. was the father of Dallas Cowboys founding owner Clint Murchison, Jr. (September 12, 1923-March 30, 1987), for which Jr. is mostly known. He owned it from 1960-1984. But look at some of the other connections in the son's life, thanks, in part, to his father. Jr's inherited interests included the Daisy Manufacturing Company (manufacturing a BB gun); the Centex Corporation; Field and Stream magazine; Henry Holt and Company (later known as Holt, Rinehart, and Winston); Delhi Oil and a marine construction company known as Tecon Corporation. In 1952, Murchison joined a syndicate that included Everette Lee DeGolyer and Jack Crichton, both of Dallas, to use connections in the government of General Francisco Franco to obtain drilling rights in Spain.

From an arrest for planning to bomb almost 50 churches in Oklahoma in 2012, back to the 1963 Kennedy assassination in Texas, and General Francisco Franco in 1952. Syncs are fascinating, and, yes, sometimes unbelievable. But they were there, like a map of dots connected to this young 23-year-old.

Many questions remain about the life of Gregory Arthur Weiler II, especially concerning the "religious group" in Missouri, and the death of his parents. What we do know is that from his origins in the programmed community of Elk Grove Village, which was created by Murchison's Centex, his journey allegedly has taken some strange sidetreks. What he was thinking and how he got to that motel in Miami remains a mystery.

Maybe everything is connected, but sometimes it gets messy. And does look like the inside of Arkham Asylum.

++++UPDATE++++

Huffington Post added the following details about the church that Weiler with which he associated in recent months:
A pastor at a homeless shelter operated by a church in suburban Kansas City, Mo., said Weiler lived there for about six months within the past year.
Doug Perry said Weiler showed no violent tendencies and was active in the group's food pantry and various ministries, but he was clearly troubled. Among other things, he blamed himself for his parents' deaths, Perry said.
"I knew he was in a bad place," the minister said. He said he last saw Weiler about three months ago, when he left to take a roofing job in Houston.
"We really, really tried hard to love Greg and put up with his sort of sullen detachment," said Perry, pastor of The Church of Liberty in Liberty, Mo. "We poured a whole lot of love, a whole lot of time, a whole lot of prayer into trying to help him. I grieve because I really do love the kid."
Perry's church opposes denominational divisions and advocates for one Christian church in each community.
"We're supposed to be ONE Body and we're supposed to be about JESUS," its website says. "We're not supposed to split off and let theologies and philosophies of Man and personal grudges divide us into little pieces."
Perry said his beliefs are based on Christian teachings and his church does not advocate physical violence or the destruction of buildings. He said it would not support any plan Weiler had to harm churches.
"We've never advocated any kind of violence at all," he said. "This has nothing to do with physical violence."

Minor update that reveals a great deal: As Red Dirt Report Editor Andrew Griffin points out, family members note in the Chicago Sun-Times, “I don’t think any of us think he could do this on his own without the help of somebody else. How did he do the travel, pay the hotels and buy the material?”

For more about this case, the Red Dirt Report will be following any new developments in the coming days. However, it seems to be a story that is disappearing a bit too quickly. Humm.
