Clinton and Fayette Factors Kick Off New Year

Posted on 6:26 PM by Gawar

Could this been #42's year?

The year has begun with a bang ~ especially as linked to the Fayette Factor.

Fayette County, Georgia

First up, on January 1, 2014, at approximately 4:17 AM, Chief McCollom, 57, called the Fayette County (GA) 911 center to report he had shot his wife, Margaret McCollom, 58, in their home at 103 Autumn Leaf in Peachtree City. First responders were dispatched to the McCollom home and Ms. McCollom was airlifted to the Atlanta Medical Center to be treated for her injury.

The GBI has released the recording of the 911 call from Chief William McCollom to the Fayette County 911 center.

It was initially reported that the chief shot her two times, according to the 911 recording, but authorities now say she was shot just once.

The story is a bit more complicated that initially thought. See "Tangled marriage-go-round revealed as Georgia police chief and 'wife' he critically shot were DIVORCED 15 years ago - and he was married to a Florida RABBI until last year when she claimed he cheated."

Lafayette High School

Then it broke on January 2, 2015, that newly convicted billionaire pedophile, Jeffery Epstein has been linked to Prince Andrew, Bill Clinton, Kevin Spacey, Chris Tucker, Gerald Edelman, Murray Gell-Mann and Stephen Hawking, and Manhattan-London society figure Ghislaine Maxwell, daughter of the late media titan Robert Maxwell.

Epstein, 61, was born in Brooklyn, New York, and attended Brooklyn’s Lafayette High School and excelled at mathematics. This helped him secure job in his early 20s as a maths teacher at the exclusive Dalton School, a private college located on New York’s Upper East Side.

"Epstein reportedly flew Tucker and Spacey to Africa on his private jet as part of a charitable endeavour. Clinton, meanwhile, flew on multiple occasions in the same plane to Epstein’s private Caribbean island, Little St James, between 2002 and 2005 as he developed his philanthropic post-presidential career. It would later be alleged in court that Epstein organised orgies on that same private island in the US Virgin Islands," says one source, based on the court records.

Fayette County, West Virginia

On the afternoon of January 2, 2015, a serious accident in Fayette County, West Virginia, had shutdown Route 19. The 911 dispatchers reported three cars were involved in an accident on Rt 19 North at the Glen Jean exit.

There were other news from the netherworld of the Fayette Factor, including from...

Lafayette, Colorado: "Body found on New Year’s Day marks second found in Lafayette during holiday season."

Fayetteville, Arkansas: "Miller Williams, a Fayetteville resident, long time University of Arkansas professor and inaugural poet for President Bill Clinton, died on Thursday [January 1, 2014] after battling Alzheimer’s disease for the last several years," wrote the Fayetteville Flyer. His daughter is the famed singer-songwriter Lucinda Williams.

The first notable celebrity death of 2015 was Mario Cuomo, and the name mentioned in most of his obituaries was former Fayetteville, Arkansas' Bill Clinton. Cuomo's dropping out of the running for president in 1992 resulted in the opening for Clinton's successful campaign. See CNN's "Cuomo and Clinton: A complicated, but mutually beneficial, relationship."

The Clinton House is a house in Fayetteville, Arkansas built in 1931. The house is the first home of Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham while they both taught at the University of Arkansas School of Law. The home also witnessed the marriage of Bill and Hillary in the living room in 1975. Bill Clinton is tied to the Fayette Factor.

Does it seem that there might be a background Bill Clinton factor, too, this year?

A sort of 'n sync thing seems to be happening with #42.

Death in the Pope's Family

Posted on 4:40 PM by Gawar

Tragedy struck in Argentina today. Deaths continue away from the limelight of Ferguson, Gaza, and Tiburon.

A car crash in Argentina killed three members of Pope Francis' family on Tuesday, August 19, 2014, at about 12:30 a.m. A truck struck the car the nephew was driving on a highway in Córdoba.

The Argentinian newspaper El Clarín says the accident occurred near the town of James Craik, in Córdoba. Córdoba was founded in 1613 by the Jesuit Order. Because of this, Córdoba earned the nickname La Docta (roughly translated, "The Learned one").

Police say two of the Pope's grand-nephews and the boys' mother died in the crash that left the pontiff's nephew, Emanuel Horacio Bergoglio, 38, in critical condition. The Bergoglio's Chevrolet is shown above.

Killed were Bergoglio's sons - 8-month-old Jose and 2-year-old Antonio -- and his wife, Valeria Carmona, 39.

Pope Francis, the former Jorge Mario Bergoglio, served the Roman Catholic Church in Argentina for 43 years, including 15 years as archbishop of Buenos Aires. He succeeded Pope Benedict XVI as leader of the church in March 2013.

The town of James Craik, intriguingly, was named after James Craik, an Englishman.
So the Wikipedia page the name of the town refers to an English businessman, James Craik, who in 1881 was the manager of the Central Argentine Railway. The former name of the town was 'Chañares', but because the railway station was named after James Craik, the whole town was eventually known with that name.
A h/t to Red Pill Junkie for some curious questions about this news.

MH17's Buk, Beech Tree, La Fayette, and the Fayette Factor

Posted on 4:48 AM by Gawar

"The Buk - which means beech tree in Russia - is a 1970s vintage, truck-mounted, radar-guided missile system, codenamed SA-11 Gadfly by Cold War NATO adversaries." ~ Reuters, 17 July 2014.

MH17 was shot down by a Buk, according to Ukrainian Interior Ministry official Anton Gerashchenko.

"The plane was struck by a Buk missile, and in Russian, Buk means beech = Lafayette, the little beech-tree." ~ Matthew Deagle, Twilight Language commentary.

Buk

In my essay, The Fayette Factor, I noted, of course, that "Lafayette" translates into "the little fairy" or "the little enchantment." This does track back to a "little beech-tree."

"La fayette" consists of the elements "fay" (fairy) and the diminuitive "-ette," translating literally as "little 'little people.'"
Others have said this, as well.
The name Lafayette is of French origin. It means either faith or comprehensive. Lafayette is actually an amalgamation of two words in French "La" and "Fayette". Though it is spelt in its combined form in the United States it is spelt in two parts in France. The word "La" is actually the article "the" in French and "Fayette" in the Old French means "little fairy". Source.
An alternative view of "Lafayette" notes it can be translated from the French as "the little enchantment," as well as "the little fairy." Joan of Arc at the age of 8 danced around a beech tree, a "fay tree," a "fairy tree," some recording that she saw fairies. Others tell that she heard voices, had visions, and was "enchanted."

The beech tree, literally, the "fairy tree," la fayette, are historically lexilinked to Joan de Arc.

Joan of Arc was born in 1412 in the Valley of the Meuse in the small farming village of Domremy, France. Later visitors have commented on the area, the beech tree, and more.
On a beautiful August afternoon while our Division was out at rest after going through the Marne campaign, I went in a Ford through the Joan of Arc country and visited her home, her church, and the beautiful Basilica built on the hill overlooking the charming Valley of the Meuse. The route out from Gondrecourt was charming. We went by splendid roads along the ridge of the valley for many miles. At length we came into the village of Domremy where in 1412 Joan of Arc was born in a humble home of humble parents, her father being a peasant farmer. Joan was brought up to sew and cook, tend sheep, attend mass and pray. She had little or no schooling. As a girl she was like other girls, light-hearted and merry. Around that old majestic beech tree which was known as the "fairy tree" by the village, she used to join other children in summer days in making wreaths of flowers and hanging it on the tree and then gleefully dancing around it. There is a story that when about twelve years of age she was playing with other children and then finished up with a race in which she ran so swiftly that her feet did not seem to touch the ground. It was that day she heard a voice that she thought was her brother's calling her. It was not her brother's but the "Voice" that was to be heard by her in later days so often and which was to make known to her, her duty as the Lord's chosen one. Source.

Joan of Arc and the beech tree are linked.
Fifteen centuries earlier, France had been the Celtic land of Gaul, its people the ancestors of medieval French peasants like Joan. Traces of the old Celtic religion survived into her time. Near Domrémy grew a beech tree which villagers called the "Ladies' Tree" or "Fairies' Tree." They gathered May-branches there. Young people danced and sang under its canopy. "My godmother," Joan said, "even told me that she had seen fairies there, but I do not know whether it was true or not."
Between the tree and the village was a spring believed to have healing properties. In Domrémy, the fourth Sunday in Lent was called "Fountains Sunday," when the villagers would eat a special meal of bread, wine and eggs under the Ladies' Tree, then stop to drink from the spring on their way home. On Ascension Day, the fortieth day after Easter, when the local priest blessed the fields, he made another stop to recite the gospel under the Ladies' Tree.
Ancient Celts believed gods and spirits dwelt in places like trees and springs. As proselytizing monks spread Christianity across Europe, they struggled to persuade people that the world around them was not sacred. In southern France, the second Council of Arles decreed in 452 that a bishop would be guilty of sacrilege if he allowed his people to "venerate trees, fountains, or stones." In 724 Saint Boniface cut down an oak sacred to the Germanic god Donar and built a church out of its wood.
Finally though, after centuries of failing to eliminate customs associated with sacred trees and wells, Christian authorities incorporated them into their world view. Even today, wells consecrated to Christian saints and Christianized Celtic deities are important features of the Celtic landscape.
It was in a green and leafy place that thirteen-year-old Joan first heard a mysterious voice. "I was terrified," she said. "The voice came to me about noon; it was summer, and I was in my father's garden. I had not fasted the day before. I heard the voice on my right hand, towards the church. There was a great light all about."
"Twice and thrice a week" she said, "the voice told me that I must depart and go into France." She came to believe the voices were those of St. Michael, St. Catherine and St. Margaret. In the spring of 1428, without telling her parents, she persuaded a relative to take her to Robert de Baudricourt, the military commander in nearby Vaucouleurs. He laughed and sent her home. But she kept returning. Her persistence and confidence finally won him over. Source.
Gilbert du Motier—better known as the Marquis de Lafayette—had ancestors who served in the Crusades and alongside Joan of Arc. Marshal of France Gilbert de La Fayette III, an ancestor of Marquis De Lafayette, led the army of Joan of Arc, in Orléans.

Photo at top. From the Foret de la Montagne de Reims. "Inside the national park you can also find the very strange, weird, mysterious Faux de Verzy. It is a variety of beech and is also called 'tortuosa' because of the deformities of the trunk and branches. The story is that the trees grow very slowly but get very old....One is called le faux de la Demoiselle, in honor of Joan of Arc, said to have slept in the forest." Source.

Things do come full circle.

Slender Man Mayhem & Las Vegas Killings

Posted on 1:48 PM by Gawar

The world appears to have become more unbalanced than usual.

There has been mayhem incarnate since May 31, 2014, when two 12-year-old southeastern Wisconsin girls stabbed a 12-year-old friend nearly to death in the woods to please Slender Man. Morgan Geyser and Anissa Weier, 12-year-old girls in Waukesha, Wisconsin, held down and stabbed that friend 19 times, trying to commit murder to become "proxies" (acolytes) of the Slender Man.

Since then, it has come out that another Slender Man attack happened right before this incident:
An Ohio woman, who was recently attacked by 13-year-old daughter with a knife, said she believes he daughter was inspired by internet horror meme Slenderman.
The woman, who asked to not be identified, told WLWT that she made the connection after seeing reports of the two 12-year-old Wisconsin girls who attempted to stab their friend to death, hoping to make the fictional Slenderman appear.
“I came home one night from work and she was in the kitchen waiting for me and she was wearing a mask — a white mask,” the woman said. “She had her hood up and had her hands covered with her sleeves and the mask.”
“She was someone else during that attack,” the mother added. Source.
Pictured above, Anissa Weier, on the left, dresses like The Joker from The Dark Knight. On the left, Jerad Miller plays The Joker, and his wife, Amanda, portrays Harley Quinn.

After the Slender Man attempted murder, the floodgates from Hell seemed to open.

On June 4th, Justin Bourque, dressed in paramilitary gear, armed heavily, terrorized Moncton, New Brunswick, killing 3 Mounties and others.

On June 5th, Aaron Ybarra, wearing a black, hooded sweatshirt, skater sneakers and jeans, shoot three, killing one, at Seattle Pacific University.

On June 6th, D-Day, Dennis Marx, wearing paramilitary gear, including a gas mask (like The Dark Knight Rise's Bane) and a bulletproof vest, armed with explosives and an assault rifle, undertook a "frontal assault" on a Georgia courthouse, shooting a sheriff's deputy in the leg.

"The dawn of a new day. May all of our coming sacrifices be worth it," Jerad Miller wrote in a Facebook post on June 7, a day before the Las Vegas killings.

Dawn? Aurora. That is a powerful word to use.

Then on June 8th, Jerad and Amanda Miller opened fire, pointblank, on two policeman eating at a pizza parlor, killing them. Taking their badges and guns, going to a Wal-Mart where they killed a man*, the pair went to the back of the store and took their own lives.

The bizarre couple, who committed the Las Vegas killings, lived at an apartment at the Oak Tree Apartments, on Bruce Street, near Fremont Street, in downtown Las Vegas.

Photo of Jerad Miller: Provided by the Tippecanoe County Jail, Lafayette, Indiana.

The Millers married Sept. 22, 2012, and lived in the 1200 block of Weaver Street in Lafayette [Indiana]. They also were evicted from an apartment in the 1500 block of Greenbush St., according to court records.
A Facebook photo posted by Amanda, whose maiden name is Woodruff, on Jan. 4, indicated they were leaving Lafayette. Source.

The pair having previously lived in Lafayette, Indiana, therefore also links to the Fayette Factor.

The name Jerad Miller, of course, reminds many of Jared Loughner.

James Holmes.

A police search of the Millers' apartment began shortly before 9 p.m. June 8, 2014, at that location. White supremacy material was apparently found, including swastikas. What other weirdness was there?

What was learned from the couple's neighbors is that the Millers wanted to cause a Columbine-type situation, and lived in a world involving, yes, Slender Man, The Joker, and other evil fantasy figures.
Krista Koch, who lives near the apartment that was searched, told [KTNV] Action News the apartment was occupied by the couple who is accused of shooting two Las Vegas police officers and another person on Sunday morning.
According to Koch, the couple would often talk about killing police officers and were very anti-government.

The neighbor also told Action News the man would often dress up as the "Joker" and "Slender Man" and the woman would dress up as "Harley Quinn."

In addition, Koch says that the neighbor told her that they were going "underground" before carrying out an attack. Koch identified the man as "Jared" and told Channel 13 that she just thought the couple was "crazy" and did not realize their intentions were serious.
 From Amanda Miller's Facebook page.
The "Joker" is a comic book super villain, who is portrayed as a criminal mastermind. He was the arch enemy of "Batman." James [Eagen] Holmes, the man who shot and killed 12 people at a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado, dressed up as the "Joker" during that shooting.
"Slender Man" has most recently been associated with the stabbing of a 12-year-old girl by her 12-year-old friends in Wisconsin. The girls allegedly stabbed the girl because they wanted to meet the fictional character made popular by the website Creepypasta.com.
"Harley Quinn" is also a fictional character in the "Batman" comic book series. She is the girlfriend of the "Joker." - KTNV
*Name Game
The Clark County Coroner's Office on June 9th, identified the armed bystander who tried to return fire, killed at Wal-Mart as Joseph Robert Wilcox, 31, of Las Vegas. The Wilcox surname is of early medieval English origin. It derives from the elements "Will," a short form of William, with the addition of the hypocoristic suffix "cock or cockes," meaning "son of," and later transposed to "cox." William was the Norman form of the personal name Wilhem composed of the Germanic elements "wil," meaning "will or desire," and "helm," meaning "protection" (Source).

Jerad is an English name, the meaning being "rules by the spear."
Amanda is a Latin name meaning "having to be loved," "deserving to be loved," or, simply, "worthy of love."
Miller means "a person who owns or works in a grain mill."
Amanda's maiden name was Woodruff, of Anglo-Saxon origin, which can be either a topographical name for someone who lived on a patch or land thickly grown with woodruff, deriving from the Olde English pre 7th Century "wudurofe" meaning "woodruff," or, it may be a nickname for one who used woodruff as a perfume because of its strongly scented leaves.

For two different points of view on the killers, see Andrew West Griffin's "I will be doing something," and Michael Hoffman's "Demon-possessed 'Joker' cop killers strike in Las Vegas."

Several h/ts to Cory, SMiles, Theo, Enki, Robert, and others who wish to not be identified.

Air Aurora and Katz Crash

Posted on 3:01 PM by Gawar

Aurora Crash

May 31, 2014, dawned in Colorado, with a report of a missing small plane.

It was soon discovered that two men were dead after a plane crashed near 56th Avenue and Imboden Road on Saturday morning. The pilot was 29-year-old Amritpal Singh who had several years of flying experience. His passenger was not identified, but was said to be a musician in town for a concert Saturday night at Adams City High School. Singh was giving airplane rides to some of the people in town for the concert.

The crash occurred at Colorado's Aurora (literal meaning, you will recall is "red dawn"), near the Front Range Airport in Adams County.

The plane took off at around 12:30 a.m and was reported missing at 3:45 a.m. by family members. It was discovered around 7 a.m. Saturday morning.

The plane was a Cessna 150, fixed-wing, single-engine airplane and was owned by Singh of Aurora.

Family members say Singh was a kind person who would do anything for anyone.

Adams County Sheriff's Office and other agencies responded to the crash, in an open field near Imboden Road.

Name Game

A few words about the names in this incident.

Aurora has been detailed on this blog often, and we need not dwell on that moniker again. See here.

Singh is a common title, middle name, or surname used in South Asia, mainly in India, used originally by the Hindu Kshatriyas (warriors and kings). It is derived from the Sanskrit word सिंह Simha meaning lion. It is used as a surname or middle name by Hindu communities like the Marathas, Rajputs, Jats, Yadavs and Ahirs among others, and Sikhs. Generally this surname is found in males - and to most American, associated with Sikhs. By the sixteenth century, "Singh" had become a popular surname among the Maratha and Rajput warriors.

Amritpal: This is an Indian and Sikh name meaning "protected by the lord's nectar," and thus "immortal."

Watkins: As the map at top shows, this crash happened near Watkins. In earlier Fortean Times columns and then in my 1983 book, Mysterious America, after discussing the special weirdness surrounding the name "Watkins," I wrote:
Cryptologic or coincidence? Jim Brandon should be credited with calling attention to the name Watts/Watkins/Watson, and its entanglement with inexplicable things. Some other names involved in mysterious events pinpointed by Brandon are Bell, Mason, Parsons, Pike, Vernon, and Warren. The influence of such names as Mason, Pike, Warren, and Lafayette, for example, issues, in some cryptopolitical and occult way, from their ties to the Masonic tradition.
More on Watkins: Besides discussing the Fayette factor, Jim Brandon penned the following thoughts in his 1983 book, The Rebirth of Pan: Hidden Faces of the American Earth Spirit:
If there are certain numbers entangled with certain phenomena, the same would have to be said of certain words. Likewise, these words tend to be involved in events of, at best, a sort of Puckish drollery and at worst, tragedy. I have not yet found a name, or number, that seems to be favorable. Possibly this is because journalism and the other anecdotal reportage we must rely on in this barely respectable compiling of ours concentrate on the formidable, the uncanny, rather than on the mundane fortunate. Sometime, one should do a study on, say, winners of sweepstakes and Nobel Prizes.
I'm not talking here of such spooky tongue-twisters as H.P. Lovecraft's Yog-Sothoth or Arthur Machen's Ishakshar, but of quite ordinary names like Bell, Beall and variants, Crowley, Francis, Grafton, Grubb, Magee/McGee, Mason, McKinney, Montpelier, Parsons, Pike, Shelby, Vernon, Watson/Watt, Williams/Williamson. I have others on file, but these are the ones which I have accumulated the most instances.
For more insights and recent examples of the Watkins/Watts thread, see here.

Imboden: So what is the origins of the name "Imboden"? The crash took place near the corner of 56th and Imboden. The direct meaning of the name is South German, Austrian, and Swiss German in origin, a topographic name for someone who lived "in the (valley) bottom," from Middle High German bodem, boden "floor," "bottom," and "ground" (cf. Boden).

Imboden place names in the USA, like Imboden, Arkansas, appear to be named after John Daniel Imboden (February 16, 1823 – August 15, 1895), who was a lawyer, teacher, Virginia state legislator. He commanded the unit involved the arrest of John Brown at the capture of Harpers Ferry, and the often forgotten story of securing Brown's Masonic sword. During the American Civil War, Imboden was a Confederate cavalry general and partisan fighter. After the war he returned to practicing law, began writing, and also was active in developing natural resources.

Hanscom Crash

Later on Saturday, May 31, 2014, on the East Coast, another plane crashed. A Gulfstream IV crashed about 9:40 p.m. Saturday as it was departing from a Massachusetts airfield for Atlantic City International Airport in New Jersey, said Matthew Brelis, a spokesman for the Massachusetts Port Authority, which operates Hanscom Field. Nearby residents recounted seeing a fireball shoot about 60 feet in the air. The airfield is about 20 miles northwest of Boston. It was used by the Army Air Corps and military operations dominated until it became both a military and civilian facility in the 1950s.

Seven people were killed in the crash, including three crew member. Among the seven, a powerful media personality died.

Lewis Katz, 72, co-owner of The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Daily News and Philly.com, died. On Tuesday, Katz and H.F. "Gerry" Lenfest bought out their partners for $88 million, gaining control of the media company that owns the Inquirer. The partners that Katz went up against? The powerful Norcross family, which allegedly controls New Jersey politics, is the one that lost out to Katz and Lenfest in the court battle.

Katz made his fortune investing in the Kinney Parking empire and the Yankees Entertainment and Sports (YES) Network in New York. He once owned the NBA's New Jersey Nets and the NHL's New Jersey Devils and is a major donor to Temple University, his alma mater.

Katz attended an education-related event in Concord, Massachusetts, Saturday afternoon at the home of historian Doris Kearns Goodwin and her husband, Richard Goodwin.

Longport borough commissioner Daniel Lawler confirmed that Anne Leeds, 74, wife of commissioner James P. Leeds Sr., had been traveling with Katz and others, and perished in the crash.

Katz invited Leeds on the trip last-minute as the two met on the beach Saturday, it was learned.

Also on board was Marcella Dalsey, executive director of the Drew A. Katz Foundation - named after Katz's son - and president of KATZ Academy Charter School, which she cofounded with Lewis Katz in 2012. Dalsey is a South Jersey native who started her career in real estate investment. In 1995, she opened Gracie's Ice Cream Parlor in Haddonfield.

The names of the other victims were not officially released.

Nancy Phillips, Katz's longtime companion and Inquirer city editor, was not on the plane.

Neither was a shaken former Gov. Ed Rendell, who said he'd been invited by Katz to make the trip but declined because of a speech engagement he had at the Little Shul, a South Philadelphia synagogue. Rendell said Katz's death was "mind-blowing."

There was a moment of silence in honor of Katz at Yankee Stadium before the start of Sunday's game against the Minnesota Twins. He was described as "a member of the Yankee family," and his photo was displayed on the stadium's giant screen.

Officials also did not speculate on what they think caused the crash. They said the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate and determine what happened.

Name Game

Hanscom Field is actually entitled the Laurence G. Hanscom Field. Hanscom's origins are from Han [from Old English han "(boundary) stone"] + camp "enclosed land."

Lewis is a Teutonic/German name, meaning of which is "famous in war." Of course, Lewis is a significant power name in Freemasonry.

Katz is a common German surname. It is also one of the oldest Ashkenazi Jewish surnames. Germans with the last name Katz may originate in the Rhine River region of Germany, where the Katz Castle is located. The name of the castle does not derive from Katze, cat, but from Katzenelnbogen, going back to Latin Cattimelibocus, consisting of the ancient Germanic tribal name of the Chatti and Melibokus. Katzman, deriving from the German Katz, is a Slavic name meaning high priest or king. As a Jewish surname, Katz is an abbreviation formed from the Hebrew initials of the term Kohen Tzedeq (Hebrew: כּ״ץ‎), meaning "priest of justice"/"authentic priest".

Yes, Singh (lion = a feline, a cat) and Katz died in airplane crashes.

Trailers, Twisters, and Twilight Language

Posted on 10:24 AM by Gawar

Is the chaos of Pan organized?

Folk wisdom says that tornadoes and trailers do not mix well. Some traditions even point to data that "trailers attract tornadoes."

The latter thought is said to be a myth. Or so we have been told.

As general sources like Wikipedia note, the idea that manufactured housing units, or mobile homes/trailers, attract tornadoes has been around for decades. This may appear to be true at first from looking at tornado fatality statistics: from 2000 to 2008, 539 people were killed by tornadoes in the US, with more than half (282) of those deaths in mobile homes. Only around 6.8% of homes in the US are "manufactured/mobile homes."

The skeptics say that it is highly unlikely that single-story structures such as mobile homes can have a substantial effect on tornado development or evolution. More people are killed in trailer parks because mobile homes are less able to withstand high winds than permanent structures, the debunkers remark. Winds which can demolish or roll a mobile home may only cause roof damage to a typical one- or two-family permanent residence. Another likely contributing factor to the continued propagation of this myth is confirmation bias: whenever a new instance of a tornado hitting a mobile home park occurs, media outlets report on it more extensively, ignoring damage to the surrounding area which may not have produced as many casualties, this according to Thomas P. Grazulis (2001: p. 12), "Tornado Myths" in The Tornado: Nature's Ultimate Windstorm. University of Oklahoma Press.

But among Forteans, tornadoes and trailers (a/k/a mobile homes) have been openly discussed since the 1970s.

Through indirect examples in Weird America (New York: EP Dutton, 1978) and then more directly in The Rebirth of Pan (Dunlap, Illinois: Firebird Press, 1983), Jim Brandon discusses the concept that trailers and tornadoes appeared to be tied together in the history of America.

"One of the most obvious and at the same time puzzling occurrences that must be grappled with by the Fortean anomalist are the recurrent outburst of hostile force that seem directed toward mobile homes." ~ Jim Brandon, The Rebirth of Pan, p. 123.

"Incidents of tornado devastation to house trailers...is a factor to be considered....I cannot avoid the feeling that there is a selectivity at work." ~
Jim Brandon, The Rebirth of Pan, p. 134.

Now comes confirmation that the "myth" may not be a folktale, after all, and the Forteans were correct.

The study, entitled "Land-surface Heterogeneity Signature in Tornado Climatology? An Illustrative Analysis over Indiana 1950-2012," appeared on December 2, 2013, in Earth Interactions, a journal published by the American Metrological Society.

Researchers at an important research university think they have pinpointed areas where tornadoes are more likely to hit, said press accounts.

Here lies the foundation of a mobile home destroyed in northeast Fayette County, Alabama, by a tornado on November 24, 2001.

Researchers looked at 60 years worth of climatological data from the National Weather Service’s Storm Prediction Center, and found tornadoes touch down most often in “transition zones” – areas where a dramatic change in landscape takes place. In other words, where tall buildings end and farmlands begin, or where a forest stops and the plains start.

Indiana state climatologist Dev Niyogi, who co-authored the study, said the data might explain why mobile home parks are often called tornado magnets, as they are typically located just outside city limits in open fields.

“That essentially goes to the heart of it,” he said. “How do we make settlements or landscape more resilient, and clearly there might be ways that we can make our livelihoods and lives safer.”

The study found tornado touchdowns in urban areas occur approximately 1 to 10 miles from the city center.

Mobile homes were hit hard in Belmont, Fayette County,

“From an average person’s perspective, what the study looks into is what the future cities would look like, in terms of trying to avoid larger high-impact weather,” Niyogi said.

He said city planners might need to pay closer attention to the so-called transition zones when laying out large-scale construction plans in the future.

In an effort to better grasp where exactly tornadoes tend to touch down, the researchers concluded that twisters have a statistical preference for causing the most damage in so-called “transition zones” — geographic areas where two distinct types of landscapes meet and dramatically change. Examples include the fringe areas that fall between built-up suburban sprawl and rural farmland, dense forests and rolling plains. More often than not, these sparsely developed, lowly populated outskirts are where mobile home communities can be found in the greatest numbers.

According to the team's findings, between 1950 and 2012, 61 percent of tornado touchdowns in Indiana occurred within 1 kilometer of built-up urban areas. Forty-three percent of twisters touchdowns fell within a kilometer of heavily forested areas. In other words, primo areas for mobile home settlements.

This is not to say that tornadoes never strike cities and heavily populated urban centers (on occasion, they do) and that trailer parks are always located in transition zones. But the trend does shed light on why when many tornadoes strike, a trailer park or two on the far edge of town always seems to get hit and hit badly (the severity of damage has more to do with the construction of mobile homes and the fact they aren't anchored to the ground than geographic locale).

What university site would we find this research being conducted? In correspondence with Jim Brandon about this, he would write me:
What made me chuckle, though, is the little name game played on these explaining academics. Purdue (Fr. perdue = “lost”) University is located where? Why, West Lafayette, Indiana, of course.
That's right. The study occurred at Purdue University, Indiana State Climate Office, Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana.

Hurricane Carter's Name Game: The Fayette Factor and More

Posted on 11:16 AM by Gawar

Rubin "Hurricane" Carter died on April 20, 2014. He was born on May 6, 1937, became an American middleweight boxer, was convicted of murder and later was freed via a petition of habeas corpus after spending almost 20 years in prison.

A book by Carter, a movie starring Denzel Washington as Carter, and a Bob Dylan song/album made this acknowledged troubled individual famous.
To understand Rubin Carter one must explore two different sides of his history. The split is between that of a psychopath killer (see here and here) and a racially mistreated prisoner (see here and here). I am not going to debate or even come down on one side or the other about the real man behind who the Hurricane might have been. There is a media creation and there is the man. Someone else can judge who that man may have been.

I merely want to briefly point out an incredible synchromystical overlapping of special names in Rubin Carter's history.

The various biographies, obituaries, and articles on Rubin Carter point out that "police arrested both Carter and friend John Artis for a triple-homicide in the Lafayette Bar and Grill in Paterson, New Jersey."

The date, June 17, 1966.

The time of the crime, 2:30 am.

The Lafayette Bar and Grill is located at 428 East 18th Street and the corner of Lafayette Street. 4+2+8+1+8 = 23.

No wonder The Last SHE has such a strong reaction to this "coincidence."

See "The Fayette Factor." And my Boing Boing contribution, "RAW Week: 23 Skidoo + 5 -- Robert Anton Wilson Again, By Loren Coleman."

Another important name in the scenario is a form of Bell. See "The Bell Name."

Petty criminal Alfred Bello, who had been near the Lafayette that night to burglarize a factory, was an eyewitness. Bello later testified that he was approaching the Lafayette when two black males—one carrying a shotgun, the other a pistol—came around the corner walking towards him. He ran from them, and they got into a white car that was double-parked near the Lafayette.

1. The getaway car is park alongside the Lafayette Grill.
2. Bello heads to the bar to buy cigarettes and...
3. Confronts the two gunmen as they leave. He runs down the street as the car pulls away. Pat Valentine, another important eyewitness, sees its distinctive taillights from her second floor window above the bar.

Both Alfred Bello and Valentine were allegedly able to describe the distinctive tail lights of Carter’s white car in considerable detail.

Therefore comes forth another significant name, Valentine.

Why has the history of this one murder scene magnetically created a synchromystic name game tied to Rubin Carter? No one knows.

This curious moment in history has certainly mushroomed into a cultural event beyond what anyone could have imagined in 1966, that is for certain.

Hollywood Rumor Mill Links Tom Cruise To 33 Again

Posted on 8:06 AM by Gawar

A couple years ago, I highlighted the strange "coincidence" to be found in Tom Cruise ending his relationships when his partners turn 33. The details are in "Tom Cruise: 33° of Separation" and "Cruise and 33 Again."

Perez Hilton (who missed one of the 33-breakups I point out) theorized, due to the fact Cruise was a Scientologist, his relationship endings had something to do with where his religion was founded. Hilton said: "the Hubbard Association of Scientologists, the forerunner of the Church of Scientology, was established in Phoenix, Arizona. And Phoenix lies on the 33rd parallel."

I explore the synchromystic significance of "33" and other elements in those essays. The Fayette Factor also comes into play, as the "Hubbard" being discussed is L. Ron Hubbard, with the "L." standing for "Lafayette."

Earlier this week, rumors began to circulate that Tom Cruise was involved with Laura Prepon, the redheaded actress playing Donna Pinciotti on That '70s Show. She also appeared as Hannah Daniels on October Roads, and currently as Alex Vause doing naked shower scenes in Orange is the New Black (shown above with the shaker tattoo).

While Laura Prepon is 34 years old, as of March 7th, the rumors of their dating appear to extend back to when she was 33. Was Tom aware of the 33 curse, and trying to break it?

In a December 2007 interview in Women's Health, Prepon stated that she is a Scientologist, like Cruise.

<><><>

Laura refers to the laurel tree, and in ancient Rome the rulers were given laurels as wreaths to symbolize their power. (My first name, Loren, is a variant on that name game.)

The Anomalist's Chris Savia writes:  "I was unable to find an etymology of Prepon, but there are references to a Prepon, an Assyrian, and his heresy, which [involves] deep scripture and teachings."

<><><>

By the weekend, most sources, including Cruise's spokespeople, were claiming the rumors tying Cruise and Prepon together as a couple were all false.

They run into each other at Scientology functions, only, we are being told.

Tecumseh Name Game Surfaces In Mass Shootings

Posted on 6:31 PM by Gawar

After the release of my 2004 Simon and Schuster book, The Copycat Effect, I was ridiculed by mainstream media for pointing to rising data that was clearly indicating a reinforcement of a probable violent future.

Today, mass shootings, school shootings, and related forms of violence are routine in America.

This weekend, mass media stories are appearing noting that in the first 14 days of 2014, there have been seven school shootings, an average of one every other day. A simplistic and perhaps slightly inaccurate summary, but the stat is remarkably close to the truth, if we restrict the timeframe to the first 14 school days of the year.

Based upon a survey of small media markets about various forms of mass shootings, it appears that the frequency of these events may be higher than that quick media statistic would lead us to believe.

Here's what I've seen in the news:

January 9:

Jackson, Madison County, Tennessee ~

A 17-year-old student was wounded Thursday in a shooting at a Jackson high school, and another student was taken into custody, police said.
The 17-year-old was shot once in the left thigh outside of Liberty Technology Magnet High School and was taken by ambulance to Jackson-Madison County General Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition. The shooting occurred at the front of the school at 2:21 p.m., a few minutes after dismissal time. Officials said the suspect left campus in a car. He was taken into custody about 30 minutes after the shooting.
Police took a 16-year-old Liberty student into custody at his grandmother's house on Cotton Grove Road in east Madison County.
The names of the victim and the suspect have not been released.

January 13:

Wesley Chapel, Pasco County, Florida ~

Not a school shooting, but a movie theater shooting made the news on this Monday. Curtis Reeves, Jr., 71, a retired Tampa Police Captain was arrested and held without bail for shooting a man and his wife after an apparent argument over texting while at a Wesley Chapel, Florida, movie theater.
At the Monday afternoon showing of the film Lone Survivor, Reeves and his wife were sitting behind another couple, Chad and Nicole Oulson, watching the previews, when Reeves became agitated with Chad for texting before the movie began.
At the Wesley Chapel-January 13th screening of Lone Survivor an argument broke out between the couples, popcorn was thrown, after which Reeves reportedly left the theater, came back, took out a gun and fired at Oulson and his wife. Officials said Nicole tried to block the bullet, resulting in a gunshot wound to her hand, before Chad was struck. And killed.

January 14:

Roswell, Chaves County, New Mexico ~

Tuesday, a Berrendo Middle School student opened fire in his gym with a shotgun and critically wounded two students in Roswell, New Mexico.

The injured were a 13-year-old girl and a 12-year-old boy who were "simply sitting in their gym waiting to go to class," New Mexico Gov. Susana Martinez said. The shooting occurred shortly before class was to begin at Berrendo Middle School.
The Eastern New Mexico Medical Center confirmed it treated two patients, who were then air lifted to the University Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas, located about 175 miles from the middle school.
A spokesperson for UMC said the boy, who the governor said was 12, is out of surgery and is listed in critical condition. The girl, 13, is also being treated at the hospital and is listed in serious condition, according to the spokesperson. A school staff member suffered a minor injury and declined treatment.
The 12-year-old suspect was named as Mason Campbell.

January 15:

West Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania ~
A 17-year-old boy was arrested for bringing a loaded handgun to a West Philadelphia charter school.

St. Louis, Missouri ~
A hidden-camera TV news story on security at St. Louis schools led to a Thursday afternoon lockdown at Kirkwood High and a flurry of complaints by angry parents.
A KSDK-TV reporter visited four elementary schools and the St. Louis County high school without identifying himself as a journalist. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Kirkwood students and teachers were huddled in classrooms with the lights off for about 40 minutes Thursday after a man came into the school and asked to speak with security, then left.
The station defended its reporting in a statement broadcast Thursday night before its news report on school security lapses. The statement noted that the lockdown didn't happen until one hour after the reporter left Kirkwood High.

Elkhart, Elkhart County, Indiana ~

In Elkhart, Indiana, Shawn Walter Bair, 22, killed an employee, Krystle Dikes, and a shopper, Rachelle Godfread, at the Martin's Super Market on January 15th, Wednesday night.

Although apparently a name of German or Germanic origin, the etymology of Elkhart's name is disputed. One source claims that the origin of the city's name was the Shawnee Indian Chief Elkhart, cousin of the famous Chief Tecumseh, and the father of Princess Mishawaka, the namesake of neighboring Mishawaka, Indiana.

January 17:

Albany, Dougherty County, Georgia ~
A student was shot near Albany High School, Albany, Georgia. Albany Police said the 16 year old student was shot in the arm. Officers said the victim was walking along Tift Avenue when it happened. Investigators said the student was shot with a small caliber weapon. The victim was taken to Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital, but the injuries are not expected to be life-threatening.

Logan, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania ~

Two 15-year-old students were wounded Friday afternoon in what may have been an accidental shooting inside a charter high school in Logan, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia police said. One of the victims, a girl who was shot through the arm, was treated at and released from Einstein Medical Center, just blocks away from Delaware Valley Charter High School, where the shooting occurred. The second victim, her boyfriend, was struck by the same bullet, which lodged in his shoulder, police said. He remained at the hospital Friday night. The shooting took place just before 3:30 p.m. in the gym at Delaware Valley Charter High, 5201 Old York Rd., Philadelphia.

January 19-20:

Schulenburg, Fayette County, Texas:
Miguel Mejia-Ramos returned to his Queens, New York home on Sunday, January 19, and rifled through his wife's phone and Facebook account. He found an image of her with another man. He grabbed a knife from a butcher block and stood over his sleeping wife, Deisy Garcia, 21, and two daughters 2 and 1. He stabbed all of them to death. Mejia-Ramos fled in a white van, driving south to Texas. Authorities in Fayette County, Texas, say the suspect, who goes by at least one other name, was located Monday night, January 20th, after he turned on his cellphone. Authorities were able to track his location and arrest him at a vehicle roadblock on Interstate 10 in Schulenburg, Texas. The location is about 1,700 miles from New York.

January 20:

Chester, Delaware County, Pennsylvania ~
A school shooting, happening near the athletic center of Widener University in Chester, Pennsylvania, left one student in the hospital. The shooting put the campus on lockdown Monday night. The student was shot in the side while sitting in a car. The suspect remains on the run.

January 20-22:

Fayetteville, Cumberland County, North Carolina:
A 19-year-old man wanted for questioning in Fayetteville's first two homicides of 2014 turned himself in Wednesday evening.
Family members surrounded Albert Lamont Jackson, 19, of 3521 Seawell St. in Fayetteville, as he surrendered to police. Jackson was wanted for questioning in the murders of Manuel Sampeur, 25, and Pamela Ann Coe, 40, who were both found dead inside a residence at the Cambridge Arms Apartments on Monday.
Jackson, who had active warrants for assault with a deadly weapon, simple assault and communication of threats, was transported to the Cumberland County Detention Center.
The 19-year-old was the second person wanted in connection with the double homicide. Rashawn Javonte Hill, 17, was arrested Tuesday night after firing a shotgun at police.
Authorities arrived at 3611 Pickerel St. at about 11 p.m. to speak with Hill about the killings. As Fayetteville police and Cumberland County deputies entered the home, they heard a shotgun being racked from a rear bedroom. Hill then fired a single round as authorities walked down the hallway, police said. A Fayetteville police detective fired one shot at Hill. No one was hit.
Officers immediately retreated from the home and established a perimeter to ensure Hill did not escape. Hill was taken into custody without incident after authorities convinced him to surrender.

January 21:

West Lafayette, Tippecanoe County, Indiana ~
One student was killed in a shooting on Tuesday, January 21, 2014, on the campus of Purdue University in West Lafayette, Indiana. Police said the victim was a male senior and also a teaching assistant.

Purdue University Police Chief John Cox said Cody Mark Cousins, 23, of Centerville, Ohio, and Warsaw, Indiana, was being held in the Tippecanoe County Jail in Lafayette, on a preliminary charge of murder.
Cousins is accused of shooting 21-year-old Andrew F. Boldt of West Bend, Wisconsin, in the basement of the electrical engineering building around noon.
The suspect was apprehended moments after the shooting as he ran outside and was caught by West Lafayette, Indiana, police.

<><><>

Thus ended the third Fayette incident in three days. See the Fayette Factor, noted before, here. But intriguingly, another name in the background that keeps popping up in 2014 is Tecumseh.

Fayette county, Indiana, is best known for The Battle of Tippecanoe, which was fought on November 7, 1811, between United States forces led by Governor William Henry Harrison of the Indiana Territory and Native American warriors associated with the Shawnee leader Tecumseh.

For more on the "Curse of Tippecanoe," see here.

Turlock, Stanislaus County, California ~
A man was shot near Turlock, California's Wakefield Elementary School Tuesday afternoon, putting the school on temporary lockdown as police searched for a fleeing suspect. According to Turlock Police Sgt. Steven Webb, the incident occurred at approximately 4:13 p.m., when persons in a late 1990s or early 2000s Honda started to argue with three other individuals near the intersection of South Avenue and Spruce Street – just across the street from Wakefield Elementary School.

The media placed this event in their list of 2014 "school shootings," but it does not really seem to fit there.

January 22:

Norman, Cleveland County, Oklahoma ~
Located south of Tecumseh Road, the University of Oklahoma resumed campus operations after a shooting scare.
There was no evidence of shots fired and no injuries after university officials reported a possible shooting just before noon central time on Wednesday.
"Shooting on campus. Avoid Gould Hall. Seek immediate shelter in place," the university tweeted.
The shelter in place order was lifted shortly afterward.

Gorham, Cumberland County, Maine ~
A University of Southern Maine student allegedly caused a four-hour police standoff at one of the school’s two remaining off-campus fraternity houses in Gorham, Maine. The entire downtown area was shutdown.

Alan-Michael Santos, 23, of Winchester, Massachusetts, was arrested and held on $15,000 bail at Cumberland County Jail in Portland after his arrest late Wednesday night.
Earlier, before the standoff, one of Santos's fraternity brothers had gone in to check on him and was met with a gun. Then other students started evacuating the house, and the standoff with law enforcement began. It lasted over four hours. Police executed a search warrant Thursday morning at the Sigma Nu fraternity at 24 School Street and seized two handguns that they believe belonged to Santos. They did not recover any other guns in the building.

January 23:

Littleton, Arapahoe, Douglas, and Jefferson counties, Colorado ~
Police were investigating a threat made at Columbine High School in Colorado on Thursday. A lockout was lifted for seven Jefferson County schools in Colorado after a threat was made Thursday at Columbine High School. Jefferson County Public School officials that the lockdown was lifted after about a three hour lockout. During that time, no one was allowed in or out of school buildings in the area.

January 24:

Orangeburg, Orangeburg County, South Carolina ~
A student was shot and killed Friday at South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. Those on campus at the 3,200-student historically black university about 40 miles south of Columbia, S.C., have been told to shelter in place. The shooting took place in a dormitory. Campus officials know who fired the shots, said Sonya Bennett, a university spokeswoman, but the name of the accused shooter has not been released. Authorities were searching for the suspect.
The victim who was killed was a SCSU football player, Brandon A. Robinson, 20.

Orangeburg's first church was erected prior to 1763 in the center of the village and was destroyed during the Revolutionary War. A subsequent church building was used as a smallpox hospital by General William Tecumseh Sherman during the Civil War. General W. Tecumseh Sherman is noted for his burning of Atlanta, utilizing the "Army of the Cumberland."

A few hours after I wrote the above, the following occurred:

January 25:

Columbia, Howard County, Maryland

On Saturday reports of an active shooter at a shopping mall in Columbia, Maryland became bulletins on the news. The shooter, Darion Marcus Aguilar of College Park, Maryland, arrived at the mall shortly after 10 a.m. on Saturday armed with a Mossburg 12-gauge shotgun and used it to kill two people at a store on the upper level of the Mall of Columbia before killing himself. Police identified the dead employees as Brianna Benlolo, 21, of College Park, Maryland, and Tyler Johnson, 25, of Ellicott City and/or Mount Airy, Maryland. Both worked at Zumiez. Both worked at Zumiez, a shop that caters to skaters, where the shootings took place.
"We have no known relationship between the victims and our shooter," Howard County Police Chief Bill McMahon said at a news conference late Sunday. The body of the suspected shooter (who reportedly took his own life) was found near a shotgun on the floor of Zumiez. A large amount of ammunition was found near the body, and leading investigators to suspect that he might be carrying explosives.

The meaning and origin of the surname Aguilar is linked to the eagle. The name is found in Latin America as Aguilar meaning "sharp-eyed" as an eagle, to Spain where Aguilar means "the eagle." Linguistically Aguilar is related to aquila, a Roman name and the Black Eagle was the devise used on the Roman Legions' banners. Aguilar thus is a habitational name from any of numerous places called Aguilar, from Latin aquilare "haunt of eagles," a derivative of aquila "eagle."

Zumiez is a leading retailer for lifestyle brands centering on action sports such as skateboarding, snowboarding, BMX, and motocross.

The name Zumiez breaks down to have this complex meaning: Z is for zest, your zeal for life. Uis for uncanny, the way you know what to do. Mis for mighty, your inner strength. Iis for intense, your zest of living. Eis for extra, those little things you do! Zis for zip, the quickness in your step!

Tecumseh (March 1768 – October 5, 1813), the Shawnee leader and hero, is from the name, Tekoomsē, meaning "Shooting Star" or "Panther Across The Sky." When he was still young, his father Puckshinwa was "brutally murdered" by white frontiersmen who had crossed onto Indian land in violation of a recent treaty, at the Battle of Point Pleasant (West Virginia) during Lord Dunmore’s War in 1774. Tecumseh resolved to become a warrior like his father and to be "a fire spreading over the hill and valley, consuming the race of dark souls."

"Live your life so that the fear of death can never enter your heart...Love your life, perfect your life, beautify all things in your life. Seek to make your life long and in the service of your people." ~ Tecumseh

There were 28 school shootings in all of 2013, following the Sandy Hook shooting.

Here's the listing again:

What some positive folks said about The Copycat Effect, ten years ago:

Dr. Steven Stack, sociologist, Center for Suicide Research: "The media are still largely in a state of denial on how their coverage of death contributes to the violence and destructiveness in our society -- but Coleman's book should wake them up!"

Benjamin Radford, author of Media Mythmakers: How Journalists, Activists, and Advertisers Mislead Us: "Coleman raises troubling questions about the media's hidden role in perpetuating the very crimes and tragedies they sensationalize."

Tess Gerritsen, M.D., author of The Sinner, The Last to Die, and others: "A fascinating and frightening look at the bizarre outer limits of human behavior."

Kenn Thomas, author of Popular Alienation and Popular Paranoia: "This is urgent reading."

Publishers Weekly: "A convincing case."
