Black Friday's first victim: Jdimytai Damour

Some have asked, "Why is there a concentration of attention on 'bad news' on this blog?".

Fair enough.

The simple answer is that social science on the twilight language is done more easily through tracking violent events in the media, as those are noted more routinely.

In The Copycat Effect: How The Media and Popular Culture Trigger The Mayhem in Tomorrow's Headlines (NY: Simon and Schuster, 2004), I document how this attitude is dealt to us as "death sells."

While it would be wonderful to track daily events and changes in terms of positive behaviors, that is rather difficult. The copycat effect, for example, is working all the time, whether in milder forms such as people copying "fads" like hula hoops, buying the same color of cars or shooting victims in schools.

The media gets more involved with acts of violence, because, if it bleeds, it leads is a truth of modern news.

So, here we are, the day after Thanksgiving 2013, in the USA. It is Black Friday, which is named for businesses going into the "black" (turning a profit) in revenue. The death is rising, and even the English are following the history of "worst clashes."

The day's name - Black Friday - originated in Philadelphia, where it first was used to describe the heavy and disruptive pedestrian and vehicle traffic which would occur on the day after Thanksgiving. Use of the term started before 1961 and began to see broader use outside Philadelphia around 1975.

In reality, in recent years, it has become capitalism's version of "Devil's Night," chiefly associated with the serious vandalism and arson seen in Detroit, Michigan from the 1970s to the 1990s. Violence has been frequent news byproduct of reports on Black Fridays, since 2006, and the media appears to be enjoying detailing every fight, shooting, or near riots on Black Fridays.

Black Friday 2008 seemed especially dangerous. A New York Wal-Mart employee Jdimytai Damour died after 2000 bargain hunters broke down the doors to the store, pushing him to the ground. The 34-year-old male employee was pronounced dead an hour after shoppers breached the doors to the shopping center at 77 Green Acres Road, Valley Stream, Long Island. On the same day, two people were fatally shot during an altercation at a Toys "R" Us, Desert Crossing Shopping Center at 72314 Highway 111, in Palm Desert, California.

This year, here's the rundown, thus far, as noted by the Black Friday Death Count:

2013 Teen returning home from Black Friday shopping fell asleep at wheel, killed in wreck

The wreck happened at 7:24 a.m. on South Point Road near Tucker Road, in front of Jim's Grocery. The driver, 19-year-old Patrick Henry Boyd, of 6915 Treebark Lane, Clover, South Carolina, died in the wreck. Boyd's 2011 Honda Accord struck a sign at 1901 South Point Road.

2013 Man Stabbed During Black Friday Event at Carlsbad Mall

A man was hospitalized after being stabbed, just after 12:30 a.m., police received a report of a stabbing at the Westfield Plaza Camino Real mall located at 2525 El Camino Real. An 18-year-old man, who they identified as Javier Covarrubias, stabbed the man in the stomach, and then fled the scene on foot with another suspect towards the Movie Max Theater at the mall. He was arrested; the other man vanished.

Phantom Clowns Update: Gaywood Sighting Latest In Epidemic

Public told not to approach anyone wearing 'Halloween-type' clown masks after spate of reports of terrifying sightings

A police force has told members of the public to ignore people dressed as clowns if they meet them in the street.

Norfolk police received a report from a member of the public alarmed by a clown sighting in Gaywood, near King's Lynn, on Tuesday evening.

The suspect was described as wearing a "full clown outfit" with a red suit and red hair.

The following evening the force received a similar report after two clowns were spotted near a skate park in the town. These people wore "Halloween-type" clown masks.

In both cases, the callers reported being alarmed and being chased a short way up the road.

It follows recent reports of the circus characters scaring people in Northampton.

Superintendent Carl Edwards said no one had been injured or assaulted. He added that it seemed whoever was behind the makeup was probably trying to shock people and it was best not to give them the attention.

Officers would patrol areas where the reports had been made and, if they found any clowns, they would "offer them strong words of advice", he said. "Firstly I'd like to stress that it isn't against the law to dress up as a clown.

"Nobody has been assaulted and it appears that the people involved are waiting for a passerby to be startled by their appearance and run away, and then the clown runs after them for a short distance.

"We know there has been a lot of gossip and conversations about this on social media channels, not just in Norfolk, and it is important to gain a perspective on these incidents.

"We appreciate this can worry people, especially the young or elderly. The most effective way to behave if you are to see someone dressed up is to give no reaction – because that's what they are after."

Alex Jones Killed In Dallas on Eve of JFK Anniversary Date

There are stories of coincidence and chance, of intersections and strange things told, and which is which and who only knows? And we generally say, "Well, if that was in a movie, I wouldn't believe it." Someone's so-and-so met someone else's so-and-so and so on. And it is in the humble opinion of this narrator that strange things happen all the time. And so it goes, and so it goes. And the book says, "We may be through with the past, but the past ain't through with us." ~ Magnolia, 1999.

This news is more than meets the eye. "Alex Jones" did die in Dallas on the eve of the 50th remembrance date. The event is part of the twilight language and the name game.

The musings here, as two million readers know, are about the synchronicities,  synchromystic events, the name game, the twilight coincidences, and related human behavior patterns occurring daily and played out in these modern times.

Some deaths do cluster, and some people do wait to die. In the recent past, I wrote about "The Anniversary Effect," especially as it regarded presidential deaths. During the week of the 50th observance of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy, awareness of the "anniversary effect" caused some observers to watch for whom might die.

Two prominent JFK-related deaths did occur during this weeklong "window."

In October 1959, aspiring presidential candidate Senator John F. Kennedy and his wife Jackie were guests at the International Rice Festival in Crowley, Louisiana. They were hosted by Judge and Mrs Edmund M. Reggie. (Judge Reggie is visible at left.)


On Tuesday, November 19th, Edmund M. Reggie, 87, a Louisiana politician who assisted in JFK's vice presidential campaign, was appointed a MidEast representative by JFK, and became Ted Kennedy's father-in-law, died. He had been a Kennedy associate since 1956. He passed away in his Lafayette, Louisiana home. (See also the "Fayette Factor.")

Meanwhile, a few days after the 50th date, on November 25th, celebrated comic artist Al Plastino died at 91. He had met JFK, and his life became entangled with JFK's assassination. As PBS noted in their headlines, Plastino passed away "amid JFK comic battle."

Plastino was the artist behind the famed Superman comic Superman's Mission for President Kennedy, a story that was written in collaboration with the Kennedy White House, but delayed upon his assassination in November 1963. At the urging of President Johnson, the comic was eventually published the following year, and Plastino's original artwork was slated to be donated to the Kennedy Library in Boston.
Controversy arose when the original artwork was found up for auction 50 years later -- not in the library as originally planned. PBS.

Finally, there is the matter of the news of the death of Alex Jones on November 21, 2013, in Dallas, Texas.

Today, when people hear the name "Alex Jones," they usually associate it with Alex Jones (born February 11, 1974, Dallas, Texas), the American conspiracy theorist who hosts a syndicated talk show The Alex Jones Show, based in Austin, Texas.

On the morning of November 21, 2013, Eric Nicholson of the Dallas Observer published the speculation then being stated by this individual. Nicholson's headline says it all: "Alex Jones Predicts That He'll Be Martyred at Dealey Plaza by Cops This Week."

Nicholson reported that "It might happen this afternoon, when Jones and his followers march from Ferris Plaza Park, right across from Union Station, to Dealey Plaza. Or maybe it will happen late Friday morning, when they begin their march from Belo Garden and try to enter the heavily fortified assassination site just as it's filling up for the city's official ceremony."

This specific Alex Jones was not "martyred," but as fate would have it, another Alex Jones was killed in Dallas on November 21, 2013. This is a sad example of the name game working overtime. My condolences to the family and friends of this young man, as I share the facts behind this "coincidence."

On the evening of November 21, 2013, at about 9:35 pm, 19-year-old cyclist Alex Jones "rode his bike across Weldon Street at 9:35 p.m. It was dark and rainy, and there was a wall in the median where a ramp descends into the Cityplace parking garage. According to police, neither he nor the person he was riding with spotted the 2005 Nissan Murano SUV traveling northeast down Weldon. The car sideswiped Jones as he entered the roadway, 'forcing him to the pavement and pinning him under the vehicle,' police said."

Alex Jones was declared dead at 10 pm in Dallas, according to the author of the news report, yes, one Eric Nicholson of the Dallas Observer.

Nelson Bus Accident Weirdly Touched By Masonic/Fayette Factors

At a celebration of the Festival of St. John the Baptist in 1844 at Portland, Maine, R:.W:. Brother Teulon, a member of the Grand Lodge of Texas, in reply to a toast complimentary to the Masons of that Republic, observed "Texas is emphatically a Masonic country: all of our presidents and vice-presidents, and four-fifths of our state officers, were or are Masons; our national emblem, the 'Lone Star,' was chosen from among the emblems selected by Freemasonry, to illustrate the moral virtues -- it is a five-pointed star, and alludes to the five points of fellowship." The city of Sulphur Springs, Texas, was first named "Bright Star," in the same tradition that found Texas being called the "Lone Star State."

Has the Mason Road come into play again?

On Saturday, November 23rd, around 3:30 a.m., on Interstate 30 near Sulphur Springs, 75 miles northeast of Dallas, singer Willie Nelson's band bus was in an accident.

Singer Willie Nelson has announced he has suspended performances until December after three of his band members were hurt when their bus plowed into a bridge pillar in East Texas during rainy conditions.

Nelson spokeswoman Elaine Schock says Paul English broke his ankle, his brother Billy English suffered a bruised hip and Tom Harkin has a cracked or bruised rib.

It appears Nelson's schedule also certainly flirted with the Fayette Factor: The four remaining November tour dates for Nelson are Robinsonville and Jackson, Mississippi; Fayetteville, Arkansas; and Lafayette, Louisiana.

Sulphur Springs, Texas, Masonic Lodge 22

The village that is now Sulphur Springs became a city in 1854 when the first post office was established. The city's name was originally Bright Star. Mail to and from the city was delivered by the Pony Express. On May 18, 1871, the county seat of Hopkins county was moved from Tarrant to Sulphur Springs, and the name "Bright Star" was removed from the postal directory.

Although it is not on the old Route 66, the city of Sulphur Springs has a Route 66 Interpretive Center.

Elm Street: The Mason Road of JFK/King-Kill/33

Dealey Plaza was the site of the first Masonic temple of Texas. 

It also was the location of the killing of President John F. Kennedy.

The street pictured is Elm Street - the Mason Road of the synchromystic seekers. I first visited the street, Dealey Plaza, and the Texas School Depository Building in 1974, a mere 11 years after the JFK assassination. I've been back several times, as have thousands of others.

Fifty years ago today, on November 19, 1963, The Dallas Times Herald detailed the exact route of the presidential motorcade. It showed the President would be going down Elm Street.

1, 2, 3...at 12:30 on 11.22.63.

How did synchromysticism's Godfather view the JFK assassinaiton?

King-Kill/33: Masonic Symbolism in the Assassination of John F. Kennedy by James Shelby Downard was published (after years of making the rounds in rough copies and on tape) by Adam Parfrey, in the first edition of Apocalypse Culture. The essay theorizes the Freemasons were responsible for the assassination of President John F. Kennedy.

Part of the theorizing considers the special location of the "ritual killing" of the "King."

Downard, predating the notions of synchromystic thought, twilight language, and the name game, recorded his research, sometime before 1978: 

My study of place names imbued with sorcerous significance necessarily includes lines of latitude and longitude and the divisions of degrees in geography and cartography (minutes and seconds).
Let us take as an example the "Mason Road" in Texas that connects to the "Mason No El Bar" and the Texas-New Mexico ("The Land of Enchantment") border. This connecting line is on the 32nd degree. The 32nd degree is the penultimate Masonic degree awarded. When this 32nd degree of latitude is traced west into the "Land of Enchantment" it becomes situated midway between Deming and Columbus, New Mexico. ~ James Shelby Downard

Most recall this passage as if Downard was talking about the 33rd degree of latitude. But you understand, with the Freemasonry theory, there is not much difference between 32nd and 33rd degrees.

Downard later states the significance of the 33rd latitude. It is all about the spot to Kill JFK:

Important "protective" strategy for Dealey Plaza was planned by the New Orleans CIA station whose headquarters were a Masonic temple building. Dallas, Texas is located ten miles north of the 33rd degree of latitude. The 33rd degree is the highest in Freemasonry and the founding lodge of the Scottish Rite in America was created in Charleston, South Carolina, exactly on the 33rd degree line. ~ James Shelby Downard

William Grimstad, writing even before it was published, was able to walk a wonderfully skeptical open-minded road, as he passed along the following summary of Downard's JFK insights in Weird America in 1978:

Would you believe John F. Kennedy as a ceremonial king-who-must-die? I'm afraid there is a certain body of opinion, undoubtedly the farthest-out brain wave of assassinology yet, that maintains the killing was pulled off, not by the Russians, the Cubans, the CIA, or the Mafia, but by alchemists.
As I understand the hypothesis, President Kennedy was for some reason chosen as The King (remember "Camelot," "Macbird" and all that?) after the fashion of James G. Frazer and Mary Renault whose "The King Must Die" he had been given to read before his death. This killing of the king in Dallas was related somehow to the touching off of the world's first atomic bomb at the Trinity Site in New Mexico 18 years earlier. Apparently the Bomb was the "destruction of primordial matter" stage of the grand alchemical working, but these conspiracy buffs aren't much more specific on details than were the early alchemists in their recipes. Anyway, Kennedy represented the next stage of the process - the "Death of the White King" - when he was immolated on a trinity site of his own. For, aren't Dealey Plaza and the ill-famed Triple Underpass on the bank of the old Trinity River? ~ William Grimstad

Grimstad, of course, is famed for his "Fayette Factor," which evolved directly from Downardian considerations. Grimstad, Michael Hoffman, and Adam Parfrey are among many responsible for keeping the King Kill conception alive, but the triad are the first three.

Popular cultural outlets, such as Robert Anton Wilson's works (e.g. Cosmic Trigger), the music of Marilyn Manson (e.g. King Kill 33), and the various books and movies about the numbers 23 and 33, have Downard's insights influencing a broader audience. My own works and books, including The Copycat Effect, show the readers various purple shades of Downard.

Developing from this, then, is what several writers have "discovered" as the significance of certain names or dates, or even factoids like Dealey Plaza being near the 33° north latitude and it being the first Masonic temple in Texas. Not too remarkably, most of the hints to these revelations track back to Downard.

Downard showed clearly the linkages between the mystical landscape and the 33° latitude. Intriguingly, awareness of the Fayette Factor seems more in play than any longterm knowledge of the 33° parallel or of 33 as a harmonic digit - except on anniversaries like on November 22, 2013. In general, it seems, more people follow the 23 "coincidences," in the numbers arena than they do "33." And, the 32nd degree is, after all, 23 reversed.

This is changing. Jim Brandon/William Grimstad penned the following thoughts in his 1983 book, The Rebirth of Pan: Hidden Faces of the American Earth Spirit: "...there are certain numbers entangled with certain phenomena...."

The top numerical candidate, coming into its own, has to be 33.

Thirty-three turns up in some remarkable places.

All kinds of associations have been made with the 33rd Parallel: pyramids, death rows, prisons, ufo crash sites, UFO sightings, the first nuclear explosion at the Trinity Atomic Bomb test site, the first site of the Scottish Rite in America, the first shots of the Civil War at Fort Sumter, and various assassination-assassination attempt locations (from Jesus to JFK & RFK, from Captain William Morgan to Gabrielle Giffords). 

Trinity was the code name of the first detonation of a nuclear device. This test was conducted by the United States Army on July 16, 1945, in the Jornada del Muerto ("single day's journey of the dead man") desert. Trinity, we have been reminded by Downard, took place on the 33rd Parallel.

Hiroshima, Japan (August 6, 1945) and Nagasaki, Japan (August 9, 1945) experienced the dual atomic bombings that marked the international beginning of the Atomic Age. 

The Trinity test site is at exactly latitude 33° 40′ 38.28″ N; Hiroshima is at 34° 24' 0" N; Nagasaki is at 32 ° 43' 55" N.

The Trinity location is about 35 miles southeast of Socorro, New Mexico (which is at 34° 3' 29" N latitude, and the site of Lonnie Zamora CEIII 1964 incident - "craft" and "ufonauts" pictured above) at the White Sands Proving Ground.

Conspiracy sites often have statements like "close to 33° latitude are Kabul, Hollywood, Hiroshima & Nagasaki, Dallas 33°, Baghdad 33° and Phoenix also 33°," mentioning their power node locations. Certainly, this is the legacy of Downard. JFK was killed next to the Trinity River, in front of the Triple Overpass, at Dealey Plaza, on 11.22. It does seem, sometimes, like it all happened in a movie.

Everyone who was alive in 1963 has their own personal experiences regarding November 22, 1963. Nowadays, people interact with this energy in the places they visit along the Mason Road. Sometimes, what happens and why is beyond understanding.

I was recently in West Hollywood (Latitude 34°05′24 ″ N), being filmed for the forthcoming feature length documentary 701, from the producer Tony Cataldo (in blue on left),  codirectors Tracy Torme - in green - (Star Trek Next Generation, Contact, I am Legend, Carnivale, Intruders, Odyssey Five, Fire In The Sky, The True Story of Travis Walton, Sliders) James Fox - in blue, at right (I Know What I Saw), and Ines Romero - in the background, waving. The Zamora event will be one of the highlighted reenactments. Traveling along the "Mason Road" is often connected from one event to another.

Why do we travel down some yellow brick roads?

For example, while I was in West Hollywood, I kept having "coincidences" revolving around Mel Gibson. I have no idea why. By chance, his girlfriend (Nadia Lanfranconi, magazine cover) was my driver to and from the shoot. I got to meet and talked for sometime with a famed director (synchromystic fan favorite Zooey Deschanel's father Caleb) who had directed/photographed Gibson in various movies. In line for my flight back and in first class, there was Danny Glover, who had been with Gibson in several films.

Such events remind me of the lyrics from Route 66, 

If you ever plan to motor west,
Travel my way, take the highway that is best.

As "Eugene" once observed here: "Route 66, starting in Chi-ka-go (energy-soul-lek lekha), terminates in Santa Monica (mother of Augustine, the codifier of 'the Empire never died'). Santa Monica is the on the 33rd parallel." (Actually, Santa Monica, near West Hollywood, is at 34°00'29N latitude.)

Ah, experiences do overlap, nevertheless.

Last year, an important theorist in this realm wrote, during his Mason Road journeys:

In his magnum opus, King Kill 33°: Masonic Symbolism in the Assassination of John F. Kennedy, [James Shelby] Downard used the example of the “Mason Road,” which runs through Texas, as demonstrating an alchemical formula linking significant place names to the 33rd latitude, which so happens to be the highest degree (33) of Freemasonry.
Located along the 33rd degree one will find Dealey Plaza, Roswell and Alamagordo, New Mexico, in addition to other significant historical sites where high tech black magick rituals have presumably occurred. It should also be noted that Freemasonry’s most influential branch, the Scottish Rite, was founded by grand master Albert Pike in Charleston, South Carolina, a city also on the 33rd degree latitude. Dealey Plaza, located near the Trinity River, was the site of the first Masonic temple in Dallas. Kennedy’s ill-fated motorcade was just about to the “Triple Underpass” when “three shoots” rang out, wounding Kennedy twice and Texas Governor John Connally once. Even the date, 11/22/63 contains symbolic numerological significance (11 + 22 = 33).
Downard’s central thesis posited that this grand Masonic conspiracy consists of three great alchemical works:
1) The creation and destruction of primordial matter
2) The Killing of the King, Kennedy
3) The Making Manifest of all that is unseen, the final act. (At present time unknown as to the exact nature of this “final act,” though some have speculated it will be nuclear.) ~ Adam Golightly 

And...

Downard contended that the Illuminati arranged that the first man on the moon, Neil Armstrong, would be a 33rd degree Mason.
Downard’s King Kill 33° draws upon a larger conspiratorial canon, which surfaced in an audiocassette series produced by Downard protégé William Grimstad in the mid 1970’s entitled Sirius Rising. According to author Robert Anton Wilson, Grimstad’s Sirius Rising presented the theory that “the Illuminati were preparing Earth, in an occult manner, for extraterrestrial contact.” Part of this magickal preparation consisted of the founding of Cal Tech, the home of Parson’s JPL, on the 33rd degree latitude, near the SoCal town of La Canada. Located in the same vicinity is the fabled Devil’s Gate Dam, where Parsons conducted O.T.O. rituals. ~ Adam Golightly 

Others - many others - have traveled this Mason Road along or near the 33rd latitude. To Fouke, Arkansas. To LaGrange, Georgia. To Lubbock, Texas. To Aurora, Texas.

The unnatural nature of the 33° alignments is well-discussed in the synchromystic world. See, for example, the wild and weird, from Red Ice Creation's "Along the 33rd Parallel: A Global Mystery Circle" to Scoreboard Canada's "The 33rd Parallel: Masonic Line of Death...." and Hidden Mysteries' "Masons and Mystery at the 33rd Parallel."

Some are merely simple retellings, as with what Andrew Nicholson wrote over a year ago:

In 1963, US President John F. Kennedy was assassinated in Dealey Plaza in Dallas, Texas close to the 33rd Parallel on 22 November (11/22). And then just after midnight on 6 June 1968, JFK’s younger brother, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, was gunned down at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles, California, about 1,245 miles east along the 33rd parallel from where his brother was murdered. ~ Andrew Nicholson

Yes, scores have talked about "Mason Road," even if they haven't used that phrase. Some even realized that Elm Street is literally the place Downard was talking about, personified.

Elm Street is an important boundary, delineating the Main Street District of downtown Dallas, Texas, which is also bounded by Lamar Street, the US 75/I-45 (I-345) elevated highway and Commerce Street. Many of the grand historic buildings that had been neglected have been restored and adapted for new use. Pegasus Plaza is the district's urban plaza. It takes its name from Pegasus, the iconic sign atop the adjacent Magnolia Hotel, and the mythical flying horse. It is bounded by the Magnolia Hotel (formerly the Magnolia Petroleum Building, built in August 1922), Adolphus Tower (October 5, 1912, built by the founder of the Anheuser-Busch company, Adolphus Busch) and the Kirby Building (former the Busch Building, also built by Adolphus Busch, in 1913). Pegasus and Magnolia are two power names, of course, but some of these buildings appear to have significant beginnings.

As recent news items demonstrate, we are in a time of lions, lion lexilinks, and Route 66 linkages. It is also the 50th anniversary of the killing of the Lion King at a Trinity site. We should all pause to consider if any of this is worthy of further thought - or merely worth our thoughts for the tragedy that was the killing of Kennedy. Friday will be the high point of twilight language recalled.

Remember, November 22 is 11 + 22 = 33. And Elm Street is special and symbolic.

TSBD mini-building

On Elm Street, the literal Mason Road of the JFK King-Kill story, does exist. And "elm" has a dark side. As one site notes:

When Elm gets ready, its strike will completely smash an enemy....

Elm is good for any magic workings, which are involving strength; and it also has the ability to add stability and grounding to a spell. Elm does well in dark practices, especially in spells that can bring irreversible material damage. It is known to dull the senses and cause depression or darkness, and is often used in dealing with shadows.

That just about sums up the assassination of John F. Kennedy.

Lions Kill A Gem of A Lion, Route 66 Again, and More

Johari, the female lion tragically killed at the Dallas Zoo.

Johari is Swahili for a "gem; something of worth."

Readers here are very aware of the symbolic gemstones in past events, including the killing of kings and queens, inside and outside the jungle - let along in Dallas. See my "Gemstones Are Forever," July 13, 2012.

A female lion was killed by another lion Sunday [November 17, 2013] at the Dallas Zoo, officials say.
“We are heartbroken,” zoo officials said in a written statement about the death of 5-year-old Johari.
Dr. Lynn Kramer, the zoo’s vice president of animal operations and welfare, said Johari had been on display with the zoo’s four other lions — two males and two females.
Johari was bitten on the neck by one of the males, Dinari or Kamaia, about 2:15 p.m. Before the staff could intervene she was dead.
Kramer said the lions, all 5 years old, had engaged in roughhousing in the past, which is normal. But Kramer said that in his 35 years working as a veterinarian at zoos, he had never heard of something like this happening.

“I would have to think something caused the males to react that they don’t normally see every day,” he said. “Lions can be aggressive, but they don’t kill each other.”

All attention this week will be directed on Dallas, as the 50th anniversary of the assassination of John F. Kennedy is recalled on Friday, November 22, 2013. Taking a trip down Mason Road 33 will hold new meaning, perhaps, as we review the twilight language of the JFK event here, later in the week.

Washington Named Locales Hit Hard By Tornadoes

After so much news along the old Route 66, are we surprised to see where these tornadoes struck?

The town of Washington and New Minden, Washington County, in two parts of the State of Illinois, were deeply involved in the tornado strikes on Sunday, November 17, 2013.

The Washington County Coroner’s Office in southern Illinois has confirmed two deaths attributed Sunday’s EF4 tornado that touched down in the New Minden area.

Joseph R. Hoy, 80 and his sister Frances J. Hoy were killed Sunday as a result of a tornado that touched down in the New Minden, Illinois area. The Hoy’s lived on a farm in the 14000 block of Eagle Road that was completely destroyed.

Josephs Hoy died from massive head trauma, he was located in a field about 100 yards from his home. His sister Frances died at the Washington County Hospital, from injuries suffered from the tornado.

Meanwhile, southwest of Chicago, the town of Coal City was hit by a confirmed EF2 tornado, determined after an initial NWS survey of the area.

One death was also reported in Brookport, in Massac County, Illinois, according to Charles Taylor, deputy director, Massac County Emergency Management. Taylor added the town was heavily damaged and numerous injuries have been reported.

The town of Washington, in Tazewell County, Illinois, appeared particularly hard-hit, with one resident saying his neighborhood was wiped out in a matter of seconds by a tornado.

Old Route 66 Again: McStay Remains Found

Old Route 66 is in the news again. Recently, a murder of a college coach in Joplin, Missouri, and a Bigfoot hunt shooting at Catoosa, Oklahoma both took place along the old 66. Now comes word from Victorville, California, also along Route 66, of bodies of some missing people being found.

Two of the four sets of remains found this week in a Southern California desert are those of a couple who disappeared in 2010 -- Joseph McStay and his wife, Summer -- San Bernardino County Sheriff John McMahon said today, citing dental records.

Authorities believe the other two sets of remains are those of the McStays' sons, Joseph and Gianni, but those identities still need to be confirmed through DNA records, McMahon said. The manner of the deaths was homicide, he said.

Joseph McStay disappeared along with his wife, Summer, and their two young children, Gianni and Joey, in February 2010, launching what San Diego sheriff's investigators called their most extensive missing-persons search ever.

Investigators reportedly pursued hundreds of tips and eventually came to believe the family left voluntarily for Mexico. Investigators were convinced that four people seen on a dimly lit surveillance video walking into Tijuana, Mexico were the McStays.

Authorities announced Friday that remains found Wednesday in shallow graves near Victorville, about 60 miles northeast of Los Angeles, were those of 40-year-old Joseph McStay and his 43-year-old wife, Summer. Authorities said they believe the other remains belong to the McStay children, but they have more work to do to confirm it. Their deaths were determined to be homicides.

In 1926, the highway U.S. Route 66 was begun, and it passed through Victorville. Today, that former route is known as Seventh Street and continues across Interstate 15 and becomes Palmdale Road. It is the primary street through Old Town Victorville.

Autopsies were still being completed, and the cause of death has not been released.

The name McStay is Northern Irish (County Down) in origin, an altered form of Irish Mustey, which is an Anglicized form of Gaelic Ó Maoilstéighe "descendant of Maoilstéighe," a personal name of unknown origin.

Persian Yellow Dogs Killed In Brooklyn

A former member of The Yellow Dogs, an indie Persian band located in Brooklyn, killed three current members on Monday, 11.11.13, before turning the gun on himself.

According to the New York Post, the former Yellow Dog used a semi-automatic rifle in the attack, which started just after midnight on Monday morning. The gunman wounded one person outside before walking inside the apartment, where he killed two people on the second floor and one person—who was reportedly still in bed—on the third floor. Two people hid in the apartment's first floor bathroom; they were both unharmed. The shooter then climbed to the building's roof and shot himself in the head, according to the NYPD.

The alleged shooter has been identified as Raefe Ahkbar. According to the Wall Street Journal, Ahkbar was kicked out of the band sometime in the past year for selling the group's equipment. 

The dead victims were also identified:

Soroush Farazmand, 27, a guitarist in the band
Ali Eskandarian, 35, the band's singer
Arash Farazmand, the band's drummer

Sasan Sadeghpourosko, 22, was shot twice in his right arm and is in stable condition.

Akhbar, also known as Aliakba killed several of ex-bandmates from the The Yellow Dogs in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.

According to the Metro’s New York office, Aliakbar then turned the gun on himself in East Williamsburg.

Akhbar was apparently angry because his bandmates kicked him out. Police told the Metro that they found out that he was selling off band members’ equipment.

Officials said that he fired a number of rounds inside at building in 318 Maujer St., killing his ex-bandmates.

Farazmand, 27, was found dead in a second-floor bedroom with a chest wound, while Farazmand was found dead on the third floor with a head wound, and Ali Eskandarian was found dead on the third flood with a head wound.

Sasan Sadeghpouroskou, 22, was the only survivor of the attack.

“A male shot three victims, killing them,” a police spokesman told AFP. “It also appears that the shooter killed himself on the roof of that location.”

The Yellow Dogs were an indie rock band that formed several years ago in Tehran, Iran, but moved to Booklyn. All of the band's members were from Iran and were featured in an award-winning documentary, No One Knows About Persian Cats, about underground rock music in Tehran. Shortly after the documentary was released in 2009, the band members left for the United States, where they were granted asylum in 2010.
